My family loves to cruise, whether it be on the ocean or a river, we are all about a cruise! When I was browsing the internet looking for fun, family friendly activities I came across the River City Star river cruise. I immediately emailed them asking if they would like a little promotion on Making of a Mom and they agreed! Thank you so much for hosting my family. We arrived 30 minutes early for our cruise. While waiting to board the boat we waited in the shade of this snack shack. … [Read more...]
Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, Omaha Nebraska
First of all, I am very grateful to the Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau for sponsoring our trip to the zoo. The Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is amazing! The Henry Doorly Zoo is a massive zoo feature 130 acres of exhibits. One of the things I love about this zoo is that there are so many indoor building exhibits. We were at the zoo on a very hot day and so it was nice to be able to see some animals outside and then head indoors for some more animals in the air conditioning (unless we were … [Read more...]
Lauritzen Gardens, Omaha Nebraska
The Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau kindly sponsored my family's trip to Lauritzen Gardens during our Omaha weekend. We were there on a very busy day as it was "Railroad Days" in Omaha. Regardless of the increased crowds we had a very fun time exploring the gardens.Even though half of the gardens were under construction there was still plenty to see. It was a very hot afternoon, but luckily the gardens are surrounded with tall shade trees so walking around wasn't too bad and there were … [Read more...]
Omaha Children’s Museum
Driving up to the Omaha Children's Museum you see these funky and colorful wind spinners. These are the perfect welcoming structure for such a fun and colorful museum. The Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau generously gave my family passes to visit this great museum while we were in town.I want to note that we got there using google maps on our phones. The side of the building it took us to didn't have any parking besides on the street, so we parked there and paid a meter. There IS free … [Read more...]

The Planetarium at Union Station – Kansas City
As if Union Station wasn't cool enough, there is a Planetarium on the bottom floor! Union Station has been very kind to my family and I and they provided us free tickets to the Planetarium. Last week after looking over the shows they have playing: Black Holes, One World One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure, Dawn of the Space Age and Solar System Tour we decided what to see. My 4 year old is a little jumpy at times so we decided the safest bet was the see the Big Bird show!We left our house … [Read more...]

Get ready for a tsunami of photos! Venice is the one place I NEEDED to go before I die. I was only there for 36 hours and it was a dream come true. A Travel Tip with Priceline
We recently went to California for my sister's in law wedding. Since we needed to buy 4 plane tickets I was doing research and checking prices for a long time. I love to look on sites such as Kayak, Orbitz and Priceline. A lot of travel websites offer the same prices, but every once in a while one of them will be a little cheaper than the rest. Even $10 is reason enough for me to hunt down the best site with the best deal. You know what Priceline is famous for Priceline Flights - Select your … [Read more...]
