Tengo Sed Cantina – Kansas City, MO
Disclosure: I was invited to a media event and received a complimentary lunch. All experiences and opinions are my own. Yours may differ. Downtown Kansas City has a neighborhood called Power & Light. This "district" appeals to the nightlife attracting a younger crowd (in my opinion). The Sprint Center, which is Kansas City's huge event center, is also in Power & Light so when there are events taking place, Power & Light gets very busy. It is a fun place to visit, … [Read more...]

I don't often think about where my food comes from. Of course I know that each different meat comes from that specific animal and I know plants come from the ground that some farmer has worked and milk comes from cows, but I really don't think about it in detail. Last week this thought occurred to my husband and I and we asked out 4 year old son "where does milk come from?" his response? "The store." Parent fail! So we then explained that cows live on farms and make milk. The farmer milks the … [Read more...]

Easter Egg Nest Cupcakes with HERSHEY’S
Easter is one of my favorite Holidays. In our home we are very religious, so celebrating the meaning of Easter is a special time. I love teaching my kids about the Resurrection of Christ and what that means for us. We are also very careful to make sure the real meaning of Easter is more prevalent than the fun candy celebrations. BUT we do like to have fun, especially since there is so much yummy Easter candy to enjoy and so many cute ideas of what to do with it. I wanted to share a couple of the … [Read more...]

Disclosure: The information and prize pack have been provided by General Mills through Platefull Co-Op.Warmer weather is coming (gasp!) It's hard to believe but it is true. With warmer weather comes a desire to eat different foods. This gets eaten by the bucket load it seems in … [Read more...]
The BEST Rolls Ever!
In Kansas there was a lady that was pretty much more amazing than even Martha Stewart herself! Wow, I know right? She decided to have a bread making class at her house to help anyone who might be struggling with the art of making bread. Now yeast and I DO NOT get along! I have never been successful making bread, or making yeast do it's thing! I unfortunately was unable to attend this class, but I did get the recipe from a friend that went. When she brought the recipe over she said to me "You … [Read more...]
Dragon Birthday Cake!
Last year I made my oldest daughter a dragon cake, and this year, my youngest daughter wanted a dragon cake. I have used box mixes in the past, and they were fine, but this year I looked up a yellow cake recipe from Martha Stewart. It is still a bit crumby when I tried to ice it, but it was fine. Next time, I’ll try to find a different cake mix; one that doesn’t fall to crumbs when you cut it! I’m just not that skilled yet! I used a butter cream icing recipe from … [Read more...]
