Want to Be Like ‘Cap’ – Captain America Costumes

April 14, 2014 By Stefanie

Disclosure: I received a free product sample for review purposes. All experiences and opinions are my own. Yours may differ.

Captain-America-CostumeMy son is too little to watch Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but he isn’t too little to love Mavel’s American Superhero. He has definitely caught Captain America fever and was so excited to receive this costume.

Your little soldier will feel like the buffest, toughest superhero in this Captain America Avengers Classic Muscle Kid’s Costume. The costume includes a jumpsuit and character headpiece. The red, white, and blue jumpsuit features all the stars and stripes to look like this patriotic hero but it’s also packed with muscles in the torso and arms that will have everyone fooled that your little one is this iconic superhero! It’ll be hard for everyone to not recognize this great American hero with the coordinating character hood, emblazoned with the signature A on the forehead. Your little superhero is sure to roam the streets like he’s protecting the country like Captain America did in the blockbuster hit, The Avengers. Your little hero doesn’t have to do it alone! We’ve got all the officially licensed Avengers costumes available for the hottest group look for Halloween this year. Let your little guy transform in this Captain America Avengers Classic Muscle Kid’s Costume like Steve Rodgers transformed into Captain America!

It might be a little early for Halloween, but with all the popular Marvel Captain America films now was the perfect time to get this costume. When he first put the costume on the first thing he wanted was a shield. I’m not sure why he knows Captain America has a shield since he hasn’t seen the movie but he knew! We told him to just pretend he had a shield and save the world. He was happy to pretend for a little while while my husband looked around the house to make him a shield. Captain-America-Costume-Shield   After some searching we found the lid to a tin and thought it would be the perfect size for a shield for him (you can also use a frisbee or cut a circle out of cardboard). The easiest way for us to make a shield was to design a quick one using our Silhouette but you can also use our design as a printable stencil and paint the shield.

The red piece is all one piece, it is the base color. Then add the White ring. It was easier to add the white star to the Blue circle before adding it to the center of the shield. The handle is just a strip of cardboard with blue painters tape to secure the edges to the back of the shield.

Here are the dimensions of the shield circles:

  • Outer Red Circle ~ 10 inches
  • White Circle 8 inches
  • Inner Red 6 inches
  • Blue Circle 4 inches
  • White Star a little bit smaller than 4 inches

So depending on what you use for the shield base you can adjust the measurements to fit.

Here is the cut file I used for this project, all you have to do is separate out the colors and cut them out individually.
