Over the next several posts I will be showing you the different games I made for my daughter's birthday party. We decided to have a Halloween carnival since her birthday falls a few days before Halloween. Our first game was going to be BINGO. I want to print my own BINGO cards and have a big group game to start the party off. After the game of BINGO we would then separate into different activities. The first group would start on the caramel apples while everyone else played the different … [Read more...]
Star Gazing
Did anyone else step out to see the meteor shower this weekend? We did! We got up at 5:15am on Sunday morning, threw on our sweatshirts over our jammies and drove out to the country to get away from the city lights. We took pillows and blankets (which we didn’t really need because it was a balmy 60F) and lay on the back of our car. It was a PERFECT night! The sky was clearer than I have ever seen it before. My sister stepped out after feeding her newborn at 2am, and she said the … [Read more...]
Preparing for the Future
My degree from college is in Marriage, Family and Human Development. What that means is if I were to get my Master's degree I could be a marriage and family therapist. Since I spent several college years talking about families and how to have a successful family one of the things I learned was that you need to be prepared for future events including having a will. My teachers also would stress that as soon as you have children it then becomes VITAL to have a will. Things should be in place for … [Read more...]
I should buy stock in Tylenol…
So my little 4 year old decided it might be fun to swing from a rope…with her teeth…All I know is she’s handing me a tooth-root and all- and telling me through a mouth full of blood that she thinks she might die. She’s my crazy one; we’ve done stitches 4 times already in her little life! At least she was clear headed enough to bring it to me! Good job baby! And I knew enough to drop it in a cup of milk! Way to go Mom! Can you imagine having a tooth extracted without any … [Read more...]
Affordable Housing
With the current state of the economy, times are tough for some! What you could once afford is no longer within reach and new steps for success need to be taken. This is probably especially true for housing options. Having rent or a mortgage is something you can count on every month and if you are barely scraping by, it is a time of the month to dread.I just found out there is help out there in the form of low income housing. Have a Fun and Healthy Indoor Picnic
Picnics and outdoor activities are excellent ways to entertain young kids, but in the fall, the weather doesn’t always cooperate with your outdoor plans. So what do you do? A Caterpillar Named Parsley
While gardening at Grandma’s house, the girl’s found a bright green caterpillar on her parsley. As all good Grandmas do, my mom happens to have a bug cage. We put the caterpillar and some parsley into the cage; all the while making him sea sick and talking entirely too loudly in his little face. After a few days of eating parsley like a crazy maniac, my oldest daughter decided that his name should be Parsley. (For Biddle’s Sake anyone?)When he stopped eating and started wandering around the … [Read more...]

Ghostly Halloween Tree
My girls have been asking to do a craft, and since I’m starting to put Halloween décor everywhere, it’s getting me in the mood for some spooky crafting! I decided to take a page from the Easter crafts we did and just make it Halloween-ish. While the kiddos were at school, I found a gnarly branch in the front yard, spray painted it black and stuck it in a pot on the front porch. When the girls came home from school, I had our stuff ready: a box of tissues, yarn (you could always use ribbon- … [Read more...]
