Is there anyone that loves long car rides? Maybe a few! Even if your children do love long car rides, you still probably want to keep them busy during that time period. Happy kids on road trips make for more fun road trips. Check out these kid friendly items to pack for those long car rides.

Lots of Snacks

You know your kids are going to get hungry as you go on this long car ride, so you might as well go ahead and prepare for it. Try to pick snacks that are not sticky and won’t cause a huge mess. While you’re at it, feel free to pack water as well. Ask the kids what their favorite snacks are and have them help you pack!

Lots of Drawing Tools

Kids get bored during long car rides and they will need something to do. Packing lots of drawing tools is one way to ensure the kids stay busy while they’re in the car. Coloring books, doodle pads, and blank paper are all necessities when it comes to traveling.

Several Small Toys

When it comes to spending a lot of time in the car, kids are going to need something to keep their fingers busy. That’s where bringing several small toys comes in handy, pack a little basket for each child and let them pick the toys they want to bring.

Lots of Books

Books make the perfect kid friendly item to pack for long car rides. Have a “book bag” full of your child’s favorite books to bring along with you. Make sure to pack an activity book for some fun entertainment. Also, download a few games that help engage them on your family’s tablet. Sometimes kids just need a little interaction to stay focused.

Travel Bags

If your kids like to stay busy and you’re not sure what to pack for them, it’s time to focus on travel bags. You can make your own travel bags out of items you have at home. Feel free to pack puzzles, crayons, markers, paper, games or anything else each specific child would love having in the car with them.

Something Comfortable

When it comes to putting your kids in a car for a long period of time, make sure they’re comfortable. Dress them in comfy clothes and allow them to bring a blanket or pillow with them. Maybe they have a stuffed animal they love and want to bring with them? The options are endless when it comes to keeping your child comfortable.

Sun Protection

One of the worst things to hear a child cry about in the car is that the sun is in their eyes. Consider packing your child a hat or sunglasses to help keep the sun out of their eyes.

Preparing your child to travel for long distances in the car is possible when you consider bringing these 7 kid friendly items with you. Keeping them occupied and comfortable will help eliminate a lot of frustration during your car ride. Need more help? Here is how to prepare for a road trip.
