DIY Travel Entertainment Pack for Kids

July 15, 2020 By Stefanie

DIY-Travel-Entertainment-Pack-Kids
Summer is here and it might mean you have a vacation or two in the near future. We have several fun trips planned for this summer so I’ve been thinking of ways to entertain my kids while on airplanes and in cars. Having various forms of entertainment is key, which is why I have come up with this fun travel entertainment pack for kids. By gathering a few things around your house, take a quick trip to the store and printing these DIY lacing cards, you will be all set with some fun entertainment.

Assembling the Travel Entertainment Packs

Included in the travel entertainment packs for my kids are:

  • small notebook
  • colored pens
  • crayons
  • stickers
  • lacing card
  • Oreo 2-pack

You can use an old pencil box, a plastic container or other container that closes. I like these plastic containers because they are big enough that my kids can also throw in a favorite toy, a juice box or some other small object they want to bring on the trip. These plastic containers are small and thin enough that packing them in a backpack for airplane travel is easy, then we will just get them out when it’s time to entertain the kids.

To make these lacing cards simply download the patterns and print on card stock. You can also laminate them to make them more durable if you want. There are hole suggestions on the cards, but you can punch out holes wherever you want. I used shoe laces for the string but you can also use yarn or ribbon. My toddler likes to play with them and say the shapes. My older kids like to see what unique patterns that can make when lacing them different ways. It’s been fun entertainment across the board. You can also purchase my travel activity book for your kids on Amazon.

Oreo-2-Pack-Multipack
I love the new boxes Oreo 2 pack multipacks. In each package there are 2 cookies – perfect for grab and go snack time. The packages are small so it’s easy to include them in your travel plans. The box comes with 18 2-packs, sold at your local grocery store. You can also find these convenient 2-pack multipacks in Nutter Butter.

This is a great pack! My mom used to make something similar for us when we went on road trips! Thanks so much for taking the time to link up with us over at the #HomeMattersParty – we hope to see you again on Friday!

[…] One of the most stressful parts of vacations for adults is having their children in a car for long periods of time. If traveling long distances is a big issue, then make sure you keep travel time in mind. Stay within a certain mile radius to help keep the kids happy and calm. And if you can’t avoid the long drive, make it a priority to stop every few hours for the sanity of the kids and plan activities for car. […]
