You May Not Need a Curling Iron to Curl Your Hair

December 5, 2013 By Stefanie

Disclosure: I received a free product sample for review in my Holiday Gift Guide. all experiences and opinions are my own. Yours may differ.

Air-Curler

Have you seen the infomercial about the Air Curler? It features video clips of these women curling their hair with the Air Curler which is an attachment for your blow dryer. One you put together the air curler, you attach it to the front of your blog dryer and push the included clip as high as you can on the air curler nozzle. Once the air curler is attached you just put a piece of your hair into the air curler and let it do it’s thing.

My Experiences with the Air Curler

I first used the air curler with this blue hair dryer. I had owned that hair dryer for about 10 years. It has lasted so long because I don’t blow dry my hair very often. I used it to curl several sections of my hair and then I had to put it down to help one of my kids. When I came back from helping, the blow dryer no longer worked. I don’t know if it was the air curlers fault, it could have been a coincidence.

My second attempt at the air curler was with my new blow dryer. This blow dryer only has 2 settings, low and VERY high. I found that I had to have my blow dryer on high for the air curler to work, but that high was TOO high. I got a wind blown look. Check out my before, during and after photos:

Air-Curler-review

Before I started using the air curler I had my straight hair. Like I said earlier, I used the air curler on high because low didn’t do anything. High ended up giving me a very wind blown look and  tangled my hair. I did most of my head and then decided to gently comb it out. I wouldn’t want to walk around town with the “during” look, would you? Once I combed it out I lost some curl but some remained. You can see in the after photo that my hair has a little shape to it. This isn’t enough curl in my opinion to consider my hair fixed.

One thing to note is that my hair is stubborn. Even when I use a curling iron, most of the curl has fallen out within a couple hours.  Perhaps with a different hair type, or if your hair takes curl well then the air curler will work well for you. I think I will stick to the old method of curling my hair and use a curling iron. Perhaps with more practice using the air curler would go faster, but for now it takes way longer for me. Plus it is hard to get the back of your head with it.

Buy It

You can purchase the Air Curler on it’s website for $14.99 plus processing and handling. For the holidays they are having a buy one, get one free deal so it would be a great time to try it out and give one to a friend! Happy air curling!
