Rarely do we buy sugared cereal. We get cereal like Raisin Bran that has some sugar in it but we really try to stay away from having Fruit Loops or Marshmallows and Stars too often. My kids will get a box of their favorite cereal for Christmas and Birthdays but that’s about it. The other day I was visiting a bakery and was inspired by an item in the shop. What if we had a snack made out of those yummy, but sugary cereals. Rainbow Chow was born!
Rainbow Chow
Ingredients
1 Cup Marshmallow and Stars
1 Cup Fruit Loops
2 Cups Pretzels
1 Cup Rainbow Marshamallows
8 oz. White Chocolate – melted
Directions
Combine cereals, marshmallows and pretzels in a bowl.
Melt White Chocolate in a bowl in the microwave stirring every 30 seconds.
Once chocolate is thoroughly melted stir into the snack mixture.
Cover a cookie sheet with wax paper. Lay chocolatey cereal mixture out flat on cookie sheet. Refrigerate for 2 hours to harden chocolate.
Remove, break into pieces and enjoy!
Tips
I made several versions on this snack this weekend. I preferred using Ghirardeli White Chocolate on the cereal. The regular white baking chocolate didn’t taste as good. Also, if you want the snack to be more like a chocolate bark with treats inside it you will need more than 8 oz. of chocolate. You can also add your other favorite snacks to the mixture such as chez, other cereals, peanuts… really whatever you want.
This fun snack would be great for Birthday party celebrations, a St. Patrick’s Day party, learning colors. This is basically a fun party food!
