Back in the 90’s (yes I mean the 1990’s… that dates me!) R.L. Stein’s Goosebump series was very popular. The books were everywhere and there was a corresponding TV series. I watched them every once in a while and thought they were fun. I didn’t like scary things, but these weren’t that scary so I was able to watch. Fast forward several decades to me getting an email for R.L Stein’s Mostly Ghostly: Have you met my GhoulFriend? I laughed as I remembered the “old days” and decided to help promote it.
My kids are still a little young for this movie so my husband and I sat down to watch it together. The story is of a young magician and his two otherworldly best friends who do some supernatural sleuthing. With the help of his magic ring, can they save the day?
My husband thought it was so funny that even though we are now in 2014, and this movie comes to DVD and Blu-ray combo pack on September 2, the movie still looks like one of the old shows filmed in the 90’s. The story and acting were a little hard to watch, but since this is intended to tweens, it probably won’t matter to them.
Here is the movie’s trailer:
