New Moana Trailer

If you were watching the Tony’s Sunday night (I was) you were treated to the first teaser trailer of Walt Disney Animation Studio’s Moana. I had actually seen a little bit of that trailer during my Tomorrowland/Aladdin trip. I was able to interview Eric Goldberg, animator of the Genie and of the tattoos on Maui’s chest. He showed us a small clip of the film including some of the parts that were in the teaser. It was pretty exciting!

The Story of Moana

CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli’i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.

I feel pretty excited for this movie. My parents worked at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, HI for a year and half. I was able to visit them during this time. While they were there they grew to love the polynesian people. Whenever we talked they would talk about the culture, food, people and the different islands. I had an education too, it seems from their work. From that experience, it makes me super excited for this movie!
