Take a look at life unscripted! Most of the pictures I share on my blog are scripted, planned and purposeful. I want to showcase a recipe or product on my site and so the picture is zoomed in and my house is clean. This picture is from our Sunday dinner. Real life happening. Not a clean table, not a clean background just my cute toddler loving his roll and his sippy cup (moments before this picture was taken he was talking to the pirates on the Tommee Tippee sippy cup).
My favorite moments from this year and every year are these family meal times. There is something about gathering around the dinner table, sharing a meal that produces the perfect environment for discussion and bonding. On Sunday’s the questions are about church and what they learned. We discuss gospel principles and answer their questions. During the week the questions are about school, friends, homework and life in general.
The family dinner table is a place for encouraging and teaching. Here we can simply enjoy each others company without the distractions of video games, the drama of friends, the stress of homework and school or the eye rolling that chores seem to accompany.
I love family dinners. I love ending my day surrounded by my family. With such busy lives it is so nice to stop and enjoy a nice meal with the most important people in my life, unscripted, unstaged, just the way we are. There will be plenty of other staged moments in my family’s life, but not this Sunday and not this dinner.
