Medieval Times Dallas, Texas

January 9, 2023 By Stefanie

Over Christmas break my family went to Texas to spend it with several of my family members. During the break we also have some special things we celebrate! There is a birthday and an anniversary crammed in right next to Christmas. For these special celebrations we decided to go to Medieval Times. None of us had ever been before, so we were really looking forward to it! (This is not a sponsored review, we just really enjoyed it so I wanted to share!)

We had invited all our family that was in Texas to come with us and one of my sister’s and her family did come. We didn’t have reservations together but they were very nice to figure out how to get us near each other at such last minute. All the employees were so friendly and helpful.

Once inside the castle, (which was decorated for Christmas) you check in, find out which knight you are cheering for a receive the color coordinating crown, take a picture with your group and then you are free to explore until show time. Inside the hall is a couple gift shops. The horses that will be in the show are stabled in such a way that you can look through glass to see them. There were knight armors displayed, flags of each of the kingdoms that would be represented in the show and other fun themed things to see. We were able to see the Falcon and trainer that would be in the show and ask questions. It was awesome.

After browsing the website we decided the meal would be a lot like Dolly Parton’s Stampede, which we LOVE. We knew we’d be eating with our hands and looked forward to it. Once it was time to enter the arena we were seated by colors on our crown to keep it organized. We easily found our seats. Our waiter introduced himself, gave us a funny speech about cheering for our knight and a booing the others and took our drink order. The whole evening is basically a rehearsed dance, from what is happening in the show to the waiters delivering food. It’s very smooth.

If you missed out on purchasing anything before your trip to the castle, there were people walking around selling light up toys, pretend weapons and flags. We decided we get a few flags so that we could cheer our best!

The beginning of the show was a little scary for my 5 year old. The castle was dark and there was a fog machine spreading fog across the arena and really loud music. After a few minutes (and getting a flag) she was finally on board to enjoy the show.

It turned out we were in the wrong section, as far as winning goes. Our Knight won some of the competition type games but when it came to the jousting and fighting, he just kept losing. We still had fun.

The price of tickets is really expensive so we didn’t pay extra for any birthday or anniversary acknowledgements or special items to be at our table. If you had extra money to spend you could be knighted by the queen, or have your birthday mentioned in the middle of the show.

Overall, we really enjoyed Medieval Times. We would definitely go again in the future, but maybe once our youngest has grown up a little so it isn’t as scary!
