Is the VTech Innotab MAX Right for Your Kids? + Giveaway

The amount of choices for kids electronics is ever-growing and can be quite overwhelming. It seems every year a new children’s tablet comes out. How do you choose which one is right for you? Well, let me help by telling you about the features of the VTech Innotab MAX and why I love it!

VTech sent me the Innotab MAX to include in my Holiday Gift Guide. I was super excited to try it out and see how I thought it would do for my kids. I like to get things like this all set up with their profiles and games before I hand it over to my kids, so through my exploring, these are my favorite features:

  • Each child can have a profile. This will keep track of their individual progress in the games and any photos or videos they take. I like that it can compartmentalize all of this information because my daughter and son do not like their things mixed together.
  • Parental Controls rock! Seriously, I can set time limits, internet limits (the tablet connects to WiFi – keep reading!) and set up VTech Kid Connect to send them messages on their tablet from your smart phone.

  • Age Appropriate content. The VTech Innotab MAX has a great variety of games for different age groups and in different categories. There are tons of educational games in Math, Reading, Creativity and Science/ Social Studies. I LOVE that learning is fun with these apps. Most of the apps I saw were only $2.99.
  • Kid friendly. The tablet is very kid friends with a plastic cover, a handle for easy carrying, a stylus and a large 7 inch screen.
  • Impressive specs. This 7 inch tablet has 8GB of memory with the ability to handle a 32GB micro SD card. It has a rotating camera. Has 6+ hours of battery life.
  • As previously mentioned, it is WiFi enabled. I know I don’t want my kids to have free rein on the internet so with parental controls I can allow certain sites and block other sites. It is nice to feel like my kids can explore but be safe at the same time. In addition to have the ability to roam the internet safely, the VTech learning panel experts have already placed content on the tablet that is enjoyable and appropriate for kids. There are already videos and websites available for your kids. Of course, as I said the parental controls rock so if you disagree with some of their choices, simply uncheck the box and your kids won’t have access.
  • Comes pre-loaded with fun. The tablet comes with 15 onboard apps including Premium VTech® Kid Connect, My Magic Beanstalk, Movie Maker, Art Studio, Wonder Cam Max, E-Reader with Story Dictionary and more. It also comes with one free Toca Boca app and two additional free apps that can be downloaded from the Learning Lodge!

I know getting a Mom’s perspective is always appreciate, but here is an opinion of the tablet from one of VTech’s learning panel experts Dr. Eric Klopfer:


He says that as parents we look for two things in a kids tablet, I agree but would also add that I’m looking for it to be durable – which the Innotab MAX seems to be from my experience with it.

I’m saving this for my kids for Christmas but I have had such a fun time playing the games, exploring all of its features and becoming familiar with this tablet. I know it is going to be a hit with the kids!

    I would love to win this for our son….right now he uses our Kindle Fire but I have to lock it down so much that it makes it hard for us (adults) to do things. Also even though we lock it down he still seems to get into trouble with it…this would eliminate that worry and he can still have fun without me checking up on him every 5 minutes to see what he is doing. Plus having more educational apps wouldnt hurt 🙂

    I want to win simply because my sons LOVE to take our iPad and phones. I’m SO afraid they’re going to break them. They’re always moving my apps around and almost deleting pictures! I would LOVE for them to have their own tablet!

    We always give our nephew fun toys, but they’re always ‘learning’ toys and Vtech is usually our brand of choice. He would love this for Christmas. He turns 3 in March and would be just the right age to get a lot of use and enjoyment out of such a great product.

    My has been wanting one. He doesn’t have any video games or any kind of pad and this seems like a perfect fit. I love that it has parental control and that he can play educational games as well

    I own a very small daycare and I’d really like to have a learning option for kids that they can use for gaming, preschool learning and reading. It would be nice to be able to use it in the car when on school pick ups, at home if a child wakes up from naptime early, as a reward for positive behavior, etc… This would be a true blessing for us!

    My girls love to play with the learning apps on my kindle, but they would do better with something that is theirs and that is built more with children in mind. This would be such a great tool for them!
