Is it getting hot in here? Silhouette’s April Promotion

April 22, 2014 By Stefanie

Disclosure: I received free product samples for review purposes. All experiences and opinions are my own. Yours may differ.

Silhouette has monthly promotions where they feature a very cool product and then bundle it with their cutting machines, either the Cameo or the Portrait. April’s promotion is all about heat transfers. Besides getting an awesome deal on the bundles, if you don’t already own a cutting machine, or want to give one as a gift, you can get 30% off heat transfers.

In additional to these great money-saving deals Silhouette is doing something very rare- FREE SHIPPING to US and CANADA! Now this is a super way to stock up on great items and save a ton of money, but you must enter code MAKING into the promo box in order to receive the free shipping! Don’t forget – code MAKING!

Heat-Transfer-Paper
I received the Lemon Yellow and Purple smooth heat transfer to make a little something out of. We decided to make matching trips for an upcoming trip. My sister’s big 5-0 is happening this year and instead of mourning her old age, she decided to celebrate it with a cruise! So as many family and friends as she could gather have booked a cruise. We decided that group MUST have matching shirts for the occasion so my wonderful husband has design a cute “Birthday Cruise” shirt.

Here are some tips to help you learn from our mistakes.

1. Your image must be backwards. When cutting on heat transfer remember to reverse your image.

2. Use a cloth to iron on the heat transfer. Don’t put the iron on the plastic, don’t use the tissue paper it comes with, find a little cloth. We used a wash cloth and that worked good.

3. The time to actually hold the iron on the heat transfer varies. After you have applied the heat, then carefully try to peel the plastic from the shirt. Go slow so that you won’t accidentally pull up any heat transfer that wasn’t hot enough.

Heat Transfer is one of my favorite products. I love that you can customize anything to fit your likes and needs. Coming soon we will have a series on making dress up clothes where heat transfer is vital to one of the cute dress up outfits!

If you want to make you own Birthday Cruise shirt download the cut file below.
