I went back to court and sat with all the smelly criminals for a second time. (Only this time, there were three people in orange jumpsuits and shackles instead of just one! That wasn’t intimidating at all…)
While the judge ran through his docket, the county prosecutor took me into his office and talked to me and the police officer that gave me the ticket. The prosecutor was very friendly and matter-of-fact and I don’t even remember what all he said, but somehow I walked out of there amicably agreeing to pay the ticket with a diversion…What?! I drove home shaking my head and wishing I had his power of persuasion. He is REALLY good at his job!
