Great New The Little Mermaid Products #LittleMermaidEvent

August 15, 2013 By Stefanie

Disclaimer: Disney provided me an all expense paid trip to the Disney PLANES Premiere and The Little Mermaid event. All experiences and opinions are my own, yours may differ.

My first night in Los Angeles we gathered in a ballroom of the Roosevelt Hotel to celebrate all the new Disney The Little Mermaid products! When we walked into this beautifully decorated room the sight was breathtaking. They had all the new products displayed against one of the walls in the room. Look at all the amazing products!

I made this collage of some of the items closer up! Let’s talk about some of them from top to bottom. One of the first dolls I noticed is the new Holiday Princess Ariel. She is so beautiful. I couldn’t get a good picture because of the glare from the box, but she is lovely and her dress spectacular!

The Little Mermaid Plus collection in the top right corner along with the center picture with Ursula, Flotsam and Jetsam is fun. With the whole cast of characters you can recreate the story in your own home! Each piece in this set costs anywhere from $9.50 – $19.95.

How about the cute sparkling dress on the left in the middle? This Ariels Musical Light Up Dress will help you shimmer like Ariel. This dress features motion activated lights and music with every twirl! The dress plays “Under the Sea”. The price on this dress is $34.99.

Let’s move to the bottom left in the picture – The Little Mermaid Deluxe Doll Gift Set. The exciting thing about this set is that it features, for the first time ever, Vanessa – Ursula’s alter ego determined to steal Prince Eric from Ariel. Also included in the set is Ariel, Prince Eric, Triton, Ursula, Sebastian, Flounder and Scuttle. This amazing set is valued at $79.95 and will be available at the Disney Store.

In the bottom right picture is Under the Sea Surprise Ariel. What is the surprise you ask? When the Ariel doll is placed in water her fins light up an array of rainbow colors. She also sings and says phrases from the movie. She is really cute! I played with her a little while at the dinner and the doll is just lovely and will be priced at $29.99.

Some other products not in my center collage but in the first picture of everything includes Disney Princess Ariel Royal Ship play set with lots of fun treasures, Disney Animators’ Collection Ariel Doll Deluxe Bathtub Gift Set, the Ariel Costume Collection for Girls,  Ariel Tee and Tank Collection at Hot Topic,  Ariel Long John Pajamas, Ariel Charm Bracelet, Disney Reigning Beauties Ariel Collection by Sephora, The Little Mermaid Read-Along Storybook CD and MORE!

During the evening we played a trivia game and I answered the question “How many days did Ariel have to make Prince Eric kiss her?” (the answer is 3) so I won the nail polish from the new Sephora Ariel Collection.

Ron Clements and John Musker, writers and directors of The Little Mermaid, also joined us for a few minutes to speak a little bit about The Little Mermaid. Stay tuned to future posts with Q&A sessions with them!

At the end of the evening we were given this gift bag full of more The Little Mermaid goodies that you can also own too! The Disney Princess Mermaid-to-Princess Ariel is a favorite at our house. You pull her mermaid tail down to turn her into a mermaid and she sings, and the pull the top of her shirt down to become a dress and she sings some more. She is a an adorable doll and will be priced at $24.99. The Ariel wig is also fun. My kids have had fun wearing it around the house! The tote bag is great, and sturdy, the “Keep Calm and Kiss the Girl” bracelet is clever and cute and the “Kiss the Girl” Sephora perfume is a floral scent, not my favorite, but nice.

If you look back up at the first picture at some of the clothing items and the guitar you can tell that this time around, as far as The Little Mermaid products go, there really is something for everyone! From the smallest Ariel fan to teens and even adults, there is clothing and products that will appeal to all. I’m really excited for all these new things.

During the dinner there was a station set up for us to make some silk screen Ariel tee’s! Check out this fun video I made of the process!

And the results:

Which item is your favorite? Do you have any of the new Little Mermaid toys yet?

I just showed my daughter the pictures. Her eyes lit up, but then she had to stare at it for a minute to take it all in! Needless to say, any one of those items would make her extremely happy on Christmas morning!

Holy goodness.. Look at all of that stuff. To only be a kid again. The Little Mermaid was always my favorite of the Disney princess movies. Luckily for me my 5 year old also shares the same love. So she will be sporting an Ariel backpack and lunchbox to kindergarten. :). Which will go nicely with her new Ariel barbie doll that she will be getting at the end of her first week of school.

I love that they finally made a Vanessa doll-now you can play out the whole story. I even had an Arista, Ariel’s sister doll, back in the day! The Holiday Ariel is quite beautiful-I bought my sister the Cinderella one last year.

I love all the Little Mermaid stuff they’ve come out with! My nieces love The Little Mermaid in particular. Ariels Musical Light Up Dress is wicked cute- at around $35 is not too bad.

I don’t have any girls so I haven’t bought any of the new toys, but I love the dress up costume. I always had a blast watching my son during pretend play. Kids have amazing imaginations and it is fascination to see how they are interpreting things.
