Easy Ways to Give Back During the Holiday Season

December 15, 2017 By Stefanie

This post was sponsored by Huggies as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

While giving back to our community, those in need and even your family and friends should be a daily thing, it seems like it’s much easier to do during the holidays. In addition, some companies offer special give back perks during this time of year that are fun to take part in. My family always thinks of ways that we can serve others and give back during the holidays so I wanted to share a couple of our ideas with you.

Purchase Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers at Dollar General

I recently learned that there is a diaper need in this country. According to a recent study conducted by the National Diaper Bank Network and Huggies, one in three families in the US struggle to provide enough diapers to keep their baby or toddler clean, dry and healthy. Huggies, through it’s No Baby Unhugged program, has provided over 200 million diapers and wipes to families in need.

Huggies and Dollar General care about families in need and want to help babies thrive, especially during the holidays, so this year when you purchase a pack of Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers at Dollar General through December 31, 2017, Huggies will donate a day’s worth of diapers (up to 500,000) and Dollar General will donate $1 (up to $5,000) to the National Diaper Bank Network as part of the Huggies No Baby Unhugged program.

If you are buying Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, get them at Dollar General to help support this beautiful program.

Donate Diapers

When I bought my Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers at Dollar General, I purchased two packs. One for me to keep for my daughter and one to donate to a local diaper bank. There are a ton of places in your local town that would be so grateful to have diapers donated. You may even know a family that could benefit from receiving a free box of diapers.

Cards

A fun family activity is sitting down and making cards. These can be Christmas cards or Thank You cards to give to local law enforcement, firemen, teachers, local government officials, friends, family and neighbors. Giving thanks to those that help us is a great way to give back to the community. Cards can offer support to these workers who may just need an extra boost. If you want to go an extra step, deliver them with cookies or a pizza!

Donate Jewelry

An activity I participated in with my church was donating our lightly used, but still in great shape jewelry to a women’s shelter. We packaged the jewelry with ribbons and bows in cute little bags and made them a nice gift for the recipient. Even though it is a gift from a stranger, I hope it’ll bring someone joy.

Play Games Together

Service in your own home is a huge way to give back this holiday season. The holidays make life busier with baking, programs, shopping, visiting and more. My children have helped me a lot lately by entertaining each other. The bigger ones can play games with the smaller ones and let me make dinner uninterrupted or clean the kitchen. I love when service happens within the walls of my own home.

Caroling

One of my favorite ways my family has served our community is by caroling at  a local nursing home. It’s easy to set up by calling and asking for a good time to visit. The people in the nursing home were always so happy to enjoy the music and to see my kids. Get several families together for a bigger group. This has always been a touching experience for me and one my children talk about long after the fact.

Free Babysitting

A very kind way of giving back would be to offer to babysit your friend’s or family’s children for free so they can get the things done. All parents have secret errands and shopping that need to be done without little eyes watching. Offer to babysit so those secret things can get done in peace. I would love to have a friend watch my kids so I could wrap presents without worrying a little one would walk in and see what I’m doing.

On the flip side, my kids would love to play with their friends while I babysit them so their parents can go shopping, bake or clean without interruption. This is a great way to strengthen relationships.

Whether you are buying Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers at Dollar General to help increase Huggies and Dollar General’s donation to the National Diaper Bank Network,, making cards, delivering treats or singing to strangers, you can make a bigger difference through little acts of kindness.

What are your easy ways to give back? I’d love to hear some more easy ideas.

Some great ideas. It is the season to give and share. Some have more time than money, either way a great list of suggestions for all of us.

This is a great campaign from Dollar General and Huggies. I love shopping with companies who like to give back generously.

We always let the kids help us shop for Toys for Tots and help pick out food for the local food pantry. It’s easy, and it teaches them the value of giving.

Diapers are a necessity. I love seeing companies that do things like this, it’s a nice feeling knowing that if you buy a type of product that you need anyway that the company will help others in need.

What a great way to give back. Diapers are so expensive and every parent with a young one needs them. I remember how much cash I had to spend on diapers, it was like never-ending. I had two boys in diapers for a couple years together too so that was rough! Glad to see giving back during the holiday season is something you are sharing to help inspire others to give back too 🙂
