Let them bring their own drinking water. Taking in a lot of fluids is very important for a school child. Not only does it help the body carry out proper functions such as breathing and digestion, it also keeps the immune system awake and ready to block infection. Instead of giving them cash to buy bottled water, let your kids bring their own water to school. There are shatterproof water bottles you can utilize. “No sharing of utensils” Rule. Sharing utensils with schoolmates is a huge no-no, even with your child’s closest friend who doesn’t look sick. Sharing spoons, forks, plates and glasses with others will increase the risk of bacterial transmission and will most likely lead to your child’s illness. Instead of buying plastic utensils, bring ones from home.
Exercise with them. Breaking a sweat is as essential for young students as it is for adults. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests that children should get at least an hour of physical activity to boost their immune system. Aside from the physical education classes they get at school, children should also have exercise sessions with the family. You don’t need to sign them up for the gym; what you can do is to set schedules for biking, dancing or playing ball. Your child will love it.
