Fresh flowers are a staple at any wedding celebration. From the wedding centerpieces to the bridal bouquet and toss petals, it is rare to find a wedding that does not include fresh blooms, whether at the ceremony or wedding reception. However, many brides have found new ways to incorporate flowers in their wedding celebration, such as edible treats with blooms, petal-infused drinks and even in the wedding hair itself! Whether or not you decide to use flowers in your wedding hair, there is no denying that this concept is appealing and refreshing at best.

For a long and wavy hairdo, a crown of flowers would be the perfect complement, as it reflects a natural and soft look. You can find a crown like this at different bridal stores and florists, or you can even make it yourself! Choose among mini hydrangeas, spray roses or a combination of different flowers and colors for a more festive look with added texture.

For a more sophisticated wedding hairstyle, complementing a pretty up-do with Baby’s Breath would add that classy and delicate look that many brides want to achieve. For wedding hair like this, you can simply ask your hairstylist to add tiny buds of Baby’s Breath or Million Star to your hair, while securing them with hidden Bobby pins, though hairspray would probably be enough. It is important to try adding the flowers before the big day, such as during the wedding hair practice sessions, since different hair types would probably hold the flowers better than others

If you are the type of bride that wants to make a statement, using bigger flowers on the side of an up-do would be the ideal way to showcase them! Additionally, they can match the flowers of your bridal bouquet for a more harmonic look. Roses, daisies, orchids or mini carnations are popular choices for bridal bouquets, and thus are a great choice for your wedding hairstyle. In order to create a look similar to that of the picture above, you can first fasten the stems to a long Bobby pin or even glue them afterwards so that they stay in place throughout the ceremony and wedding reception.
It is important to consider the length of your ceremony and reception if you want to include fresh flowers into your wedding hair style. With the added chemicals of hairspray and shampoos may shorten the life of the bouquet. One suggestion is to buy separate bouquets for your rehearsal and actual wedding. Another thing to consider is how the weather conditions may speed up the dehydration process of the cut flowers. The chances of the flowers totally wilting are slim but if that is a major concern for you and you still want the natural and delicate look of flowers in your wedding hair, you may opt to include accessories with silk flowers.

I really like the crown of flowers….I wish that I would have done something like this for my wedding. Just a little bit of something with my veil would have been nice. 🙂

I always prefer flowers in the hair with or with out a veil, I thinks it adds to the purity of the bride and the holyness of the wedding. “just my preference”.
