uKloo is a treasure hunt game designed to help your early readers learn to read without even realizing it. The uKloo game includes 3 levels of game play that increase in reading difficulty. We have been playing the game with the easiest cards because my 4 year old can’t read yet.
The way you play is to place card clues around the house that lead to a surprise at the end! There is a picture helper sheet to help your kids figure out what the clues are asking. Last night we played several rounds with my husband placing the cards in the designated places. We decided to use the same 5 clues but in different orders so my son would become familiar with them. After several rounds he decided he wanted a turn placing the cards. He was able to place these cards without any help!
At the end of the treasure hunt you place a surprise card. On this card you can write any kind of activity, treat or other prize you want. We didn’t put anything on the card. Finding the last card was a bonus enough for them and they were having so much fun they wanted to continue playing without needing to win anything.
I think the game is very fun, especially for my daughter who can read. She was such a great helper with her brother helping him to figure out how to read the cards. If I were to make a change to this game it would be to include the ‘picture helper’ pictures on the cards. I think there is plenty of room on the cards to include the words and the pictures. Then my son would have been able to read the words himself. I know he would have been so proud of himself. Since there are 3 difficulty levels of cards the pictures could be removed on the harder levels to focus more on reading the words instead of using the picture helpers.
Since my kids had so much fun playing this and they got along so well helping each other, I love this game! Anything that gets my kids active and learning, without realizing it, is a hit in my book! You can buy your own uKloo game on the website!

This is so fun! I used to make up treasure hunts for my kids on special occasions and they had the best time with it. How nice to have a game where the clues are already made up. When kids are motivated for things they want, it definitely gets them to read.
