Tropical-Slush
I’m so excited to share a family tradition with y’all today! Growing up every New Year’s Eve my Mom would make a tropical slush for us to drink while we played games and rang in the New Year. Now December doesn’t seem like the right time to have a cool treat, but I grew up in California, so it wasn’t usually that cold.

Now that I’m the Mom I have continued the tradition of Tropical Slush with my own family. Since we do live in a colder climate, we usually make it in the summer. This recipe is not only yummy to make for your own family, the recipe is huge and serves approximately 30, so party it up with Tropical Slush.

SunnyD-Rollback
In order to “kill two birds with one stone” I decided to get a 24 pack of SunnyD at Sam’s when I was doing my shopping. That way I could use some to make Tropical Slush and my kids could have some fun SunnyD drinks in their school lunches. The 24 pack of SunnyD was by the refrigerated section on an end cap display. With the rollback price of $5.38, I was sold! This will be the price until the beginning of August so get shopping.

Get ready for an easy and yummy slush recipe!

Tropical Slush

Ingredients:

  • 4 mashed bananas
  • 1 quart pineapple juice
  • 2 cups SunnyD orange juice
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 6 cups water

Directions:

  1. Over medium heat, in a sauce pan, stir sugar and water together until sugar is melted.
  2. Meanwhile, mix together mashed bananas, pineapple juice and SunnyD.
  3. Once sugar is melted, combine with the juice/banana mixture.
  4. Pour into freezable container(s). Depending on the size of your containers it’ll take overnight to freeze completely.
  5. To serve, set out frozen slush to thaw slightly. Scoop slush into cups and pour lemon-lime soda over the top. Stir together to create a “slush”.

This is such a fun way to incorporate my favorite drinks into one frozen treat. To see more delicious recipes with SunnyD check out #WhereFunBegins.
