At our house we have the standard modem/router from our internet provider. From time to time the WiFi will stop working and we have to reset the router to make it start working again. When we got the Netgear Nighthawk X6 Router, I connected it to our old router and we started switch over our devices to use the X6. In the short time that we have been using the X6, the WiFi on our old router has stopped working and now we are moving all our devices of to the new, more reliable Nighthawk X6.

Setup is super simple: plug in the power cable → connect the ethernet cable to your modem → connect your computer to the router with an ethernet cable → and open your web browser.
The setup screen comes up automatically. (If it doesn’t come up automatically, just type in the IP address in your browsers address bar, it’s probably 192.168.1.1)

Here are the Six Things that make the Netgear X6 awesome

1 Tri-Band WiFi → Maximum speed for all devices

There are 3 WiFi singals to use with the X6, with one 2.4GHz band and two 5GHz WiFi bands. It’s like being able to listen to 3 different radio stations in your car at the same time. All your newer devices will use the two 5GHz bands and the 2.4GHz band will be used by slower or older devices. With two 5GHz the X6 is smart enough to balance the number of devices between the two bands. Cel phones and tablets are usually slower than laptops, so the X6 will put all the slower devices on one band and the fasters ones on the other allowing for the maximum speed for all the devices

Share a printer or files with everyone on your network. You can connect a USB printer to the X6 for everyone to use. You can use the USB 3.0 port to connect an external hard drive to store pictures, videos and files to be shared all across your network. Netgear provides free software, ReadySHARE Vault, free software to automatic PC backup to the hard drive connected to the router.

The X6 is really easy to setup and  use. Follow the steps above to get the router setup, after everything is setup it’s ready to use. Netgear makes managing the router simple too, there’s even an app for that, the NETGEAR genie App.

5 Security → Keeping you safe online

The X6 has the highest-level wireless security, using WPA/WPA2 encryption, which ensures only the devices you have connected to your network use your network. High security across your network ensures your privacy and family is safe while online. You can even limit access for kids with parental controls.

6 Six Antennas → Six times the connections

Six powerful high performance external antennas provides WiFi coverage everywhere in your home. The antennas are what connects your devices to the router. With more antennas you can connect more devices and still allow for fast speeds.
