Canvas Prints
I decided to combine a mixture of canvas prints and regular glossy photos with frames on my wall. The canvas prints really pop and draw your eye so I picked photos that I really wanted people to look at to be the canvas prints. A collage of my kids, a family picture and a picture with extended family.
Using CanvasDiscount.com to design my canvases was really fun and easy. I first edited the pictures in Picmonkey to brighten them and adjust colors. We had taken these pictures ourselves, so we weren’t using professional photos. *Next time I update to photo wall, we will get professional photos done first.*
On the Canvasdiscount.com website you pick what you want to do. I uploaded my photo and went through a couple different sizes seeing how the picture would look.
Combine canvases and flat photos
I wanted to add some texture to the wall by having canvases and framed photos intermixed. I think it helps draw your eye from one photo to the next because there are different things to look at. I kept my frames consistent with color to keep it coordinating, but the shapes and sizes are different.
Shop the sales
Because adding canvases to your family wall is so awesome but can be pricey, shop the sales. Join the email list for CanvasDiscount.com because they have some great sales, pretty often. Buy the canvases on sale and then wait for the next sale for the next product you want. It’s not a race to get it done, so if you are trying to stay on budget, let it take a few months to get the right price for the right pictures.
If you want some framed pictures on your wall check out some clearance frames and at local stores, shop around for coupons or pay attention to the sales. You can also see if your local thrift stores have some frames you like, even if they already have a picture you don’t want in them. You can even buy frames you like, that aren’t the right color and paint them. The frame I used that looks like an arrow was naked wood. Since it was the right size for my wall, I spray painted it black to match the theme.

Lay it out ahead of time
Add different shapes
My previous wall was was rectangular, which is fine. I like things to be basically symmetrical, but this time around I tried to control my need for everything to be squared off and add a little shape! Because I had a little extra space I also bought a metal “family” sign to add to the wall. Maybe next time I’m ready to update the wall I’ll be ready to be even more crazy and not so symmetrical!

The collage is cute. But the traditional family pic is the best. It’s memorable. Thanks for the tips.
