The Super Mario Bros Movie Review

I received a copy of the movie for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

As a kid of the 80’s, I was really excited when commercials for this movie started circulating! You may know we enjoyed several shows and a movie or two already about Mario, but this movie seemed like a classic throw back. When reports started coming out that it was completely family friendly I was SOLD!

We honestly don’t go to the movies very often anymore because there really aren’t a ton of completely family friendly movies. The Super Mario Bros Movie is such a breath of fresh air. The music is incredible, the jokes are relatable and the voice cast is incredible!

Summary

The movie tells the story of two Brooklyn plumbers who are brothers and best friends: Mario, the brave one with the “let’s-a go” attitude, and the perpetually anxious Luigi, who would prefer to go nowhere. We open with the Super Mario Brothers reckoning with their struggling plumbing business, and wind up in a whirlwind adventure through Mushroom Kingdom. Through their journey, we meet a cast of familiar, lovable characters, ultimately uniting to defeat the power-hungry villain, Bowser. The Super Mario Bros. Movie takes what millions of gamers worldwide have loved for over three decades and levels it up to a new and breathtaking cinematic experience.

My kids particularly loved the extended “Peaches” music video. That song and Jack Black as ‘Bowser’ have taken the world by storm, but we can’t get enough of those kinds of special features!

In our house this movie gets 5 stars, 2 thumbs up, 100% and any other form of saying its amazing, you’ll love and go buy it now! I’m so happy this is in our movie collection, both on the movie shelf and in my digital collection!
