The Roosevelt Hotel – Hollywood, CA

September 20, 2013 By Stefanie

Disclaimer: My expenses at the Roosevelt Hotel were provided by Disney on my trip to the Disney PLANES Premiere and Little Mermaid Event.

On Hollywood Boulevard in the heart of all the action is The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. This is one of the hottest spots in Hollywood and a popular place with celebrities! During my trip to Los Angeles this is the hotel Disney decided to provide the bloggers! Awesome right?!

I had done some research and discovered the Roosevelt Hotel had always been a popular destination for celebrities. This was one of Marilyn Monroe’s favorite places to stay and she is even rumored to haunt the hotel. The lobby of the hotel is gorgeous with its very detailed ceilings.

The halls of the hotel were painted black and lighting was very dim so it was actually a little scary walking through the hotel to get to your room. Especially since we were on Hollywood Boulevard (which I wouldn’t consider the safest place to be after dark). They did have a little security with needing to use your room key to get upstairs but I person could use the key and then everyone could push a floor number.

The hotel is beginning to remodel so I was located in a newer part of the hotel. The hallway right before my door was painted white and the hotel was a little brighter! I would walk quickly to get to the brighter part of the hallways! 🙂

My room was gorgeous! And HUGE! This is the door to my room. I LOVED the full length mirror!

On the left side of my room was this nice sized sitting room. I loved the desk. I usually ate breakfast there. It was nice to have so much room even though it was just me in the room, I liked being able to spread out.

The bed was VERY comfortable and very big. I LOVED having a king sized bed all to myself. I didn’t have many hours to sleep as we were very busy and had early mornings, but for the time I was in the bed it was very comfortable. I LOVED it very much!

And then there was the closet! I had a walk in closet in my room! It was awesome! I loved hanging up all my clothes. I even used the ironing board and iron right there in the closet. It was nice for my suitcases to have their own spot so I could keep the crazy mess contained. While we are looking at the closet and you can see the carpet, let’s talk about it. It was very soft!

The bathroom was a little disappointing. With such a huge room and space everywhere the bathroom was the opposite of that. It was tiny.  There wasn’t any counter space for all my bathroom supplies (ie hairspray, makeup, hair straightener, etc) The hotel did have a blow dryer to use so that was nice to not have to pack one. The shower was also different only having half of a door.

My experience with room service was fantastic. I would order my breakfast the night before and it would get delivered right on time. The prices were very expensive, but in such a ritzy hotel and in Hollywood, that is to be expected.

My one poor experience with the hotel was on Tuesday when we were leaving. We had to check out of the hotel but had them store our luggage. We had to go have a meet and greet with the Super Buddies and then we would be back to head to the airport. I new I was going to need to pump (I am a nursing Mom after all!) before leaving to the hotel because I couldn’t go for 14 hours without pumping. When checking out I mentioned I would be needing some assistance finding a place to pump when I got back. The cute girl at the reception desk said that they would be able to work something out. Upon my return after our activities I went to the reception desk and spoke to someone else about it. The new person was unwilling to help me find a place to nurse. I mentioned a couple options but she was unwilling to accommodate. I know that they didn’t to accommodate me, and I know that there probably aren’t a lot of nursing Mom staying at the hotel, but this was a huge deal for me! I talked to my friend Heidi about the situation and she helped me figure it out. She was my bouncer standing outside of the bathroom not letting anyone in while I pumped. I went really fast and was cleared out of there in about 7 minutes… good enough to last until I got home to see my baby. I wish they would have been more willing to help me with this issue!

Overall I had a good time. I liked the hotel but wouldn’t necessarily recommend it. It is very expensive and in a bad part of town. My stay was fine and I’m happy to keep that as my only experience at the Hotel Roosevelt.

I don’t like hotels with tiny bathrooms. I guess with spacious closet and sitting area they had to give up room somewhere. Thanks for a great review.
