Now that the summer season is right around the corner, parents should already start thinking about ways on how to keep their kids occupied. Choose productive activities that will not only entertain your kids but will also rear them into a better person.
So what is the best option? I’m sure you have heard of this activity called Summer Camp.
There are various types of Summer Camps. Some are geared towards the arts, others on music and most are for pure social interaction. The following are just some of the benefits of sending your kid to summer camp:
1. They can harness their social skills.
You can bet that your kid will meet a variety of other kids in here. They can make new and life-long friends in here. They also meet new kids in school. But the thing about summer camps is that kids are encouraged to make friends. There is no chance that they will be left out. The activities are geared towards socializing.
2. It helps them understand diversity.
It’s a real challenge to get kids to understand cultural and personality diversity in normal surroundings such as school. They meet lots of kids different in terms of personality and cultural orientation from them. Problem is, they don’t get to interact with them as much as they might want to. In a summer camp, your kid will get to meet other kids with different persona’s and upbringing.
3. Summer camps boost their confidence.
Ask parents who have tried sending their kids to summer camp what the best thing about this summer activity is and they will tell you that they like how their kids come back full of stories and self-confidence.
4. Encourages them to be more physically active.
Can’t pry your kid away from the computer or television? Summer camp is the answer. They’ll be introduced to a myriad of fun activities that will encourage them to be more active.
These are just some of the benefits. But these should be enough for you to decide to send your kid to summer camp.

My husband and I have been thinking about sending our son to a co-ed summer camp. We figured it would be a good opportunity for him to make some new friends. However, I didn’t even think of summer camp as a way for my son to understand diversity. He would meet a lot of different kids with different lifestyles; it would be great for him to understand and appreciate different walks of life.
