You know when you have a child, you get a lot of things while in the hospital. There are bracelets, pacifiers, little beanies among other things. These special hospital memories are perfect for fitting into a shadow box. I love these shadow boxes because it helps me remember those precious first moments with my babies. I have made shadow boxes for 2 of my 3 kids (My third child is only 10 weeks old so it’s a little soon to make his box. I’m still using a couple of the items I normally put into the shadow box.)
Here is the shadow box for my oldest.
- The name sign the nurses made for her hospital bed
- The red bow they put in her hair when she came back from having her first bath
- The beanie they put on her right after she was born
- 3 of the hospital bracelets (one of hers, mine and my husband’s)
- The pacifier they gave her in the hospital
All of her items are glued onto a cute piece of scrapbook paper which you can’t see in the picture. In my son’s box I included:
- His beanie from the hospital
- A card with his birth stats
- Some of our hospital bracelets
- His biliband sunglasses (he had jaundice and had to spend a lot of time in a little blue bed)
- One of his pacifiers
- We cut his name out of vinyl on our Silhouette
All of his items are also glued on cute scrapbook paper.
These are easy and cute ways to save and display these hospital trinkets so they don’t just sit in a box for the rest of everyone’s lives.
Have you made a craft out of your child’s things?
