I grew up in a very musical family. At one point in time (before I was born) my Dad was a professional musician in the Boston symphony and the Seattle Symphony. Each child was required to learn an instrument. I took piano lessons for a short time, but eventually stuck with the violin. My grandparents were also very musical and left many of their instruments to my family when they died. The two violins that I own belonged to my Grandfather. My sisters received pianos from my Grandparents. The piano that will become mine is my parents. Right now it is in a storage facility with other pianos. One day I hope to be able to get this piano to me. The big problem is, it is in California and I am in Missouri.
I was watching a show once that was about people that would bid on jobs to move things. The best bid would win. I recently discovered a website that is just like that. ANYVAN is a website where you can post a job, something to move or be delivered, and different transport companies will bid on it in auction style. You will get an email whenever you get a new quote. You can ask questions of the companies to make sure you are happy with the one you choose. I am thinking that this type of service might be just what I need to get my piano from storage in California to my home in Missouri!
