Make the Season Fair with Fair Trade

November 18, 2013 By Stefanie

Disclosure: I received free product samples for review purposes in my Holiday Gift Guide. All experiences and opinions are my own. Yours may differ.

This holiday season before going off to purchase cheaply made products, think about purchasing products that can impact others lives. Buy items made in America and that can help the small business owner or purchase products stamped with the “Fair Trade Certified” stamp. When you buy Fair Trade goods you know that the farmer that produced that item, or ingredients to make that item was compensated fairly for their work.

What kind of good are marked with a Fair Trade Certified stamp? Chocolate, clothing’s, spices, tea sets and more. I received a sample of some Alter Eco Bran chocolate that is also a Fair Trade product. These chocolate bars are dark chocolate. I don’t care for dark chocolate so I found some testers that were happy to help out. The consensus was that the chocolate was pretty good. They did mention that the Almond candy bar had a weird after taste, but since the others tasted fine I assume it was from the nuts. Along with chocolate bars I also received some baking chocolate and an organic tea sampler. I don’t drink tea so I can’t report on this.

Check out the Fair Trade website to learn more about the cause, donating to the cause and see what products are available through Fair Trade.
