How to Run Your eBay Business from Home (Perfect for Moms)

March 19, 2014 By Stefanie

Setting up and running your own eBay business isn’t difficult. You just need to take a common sense approach and plan appropriately.

An eBay business can be a useful income for your family, making it ideal for Moms.

Here are a few useful pointers in getting your new eBay business started:

Setting up an account on eBay

Your first step in setting up your own eBay business is to set up an account on eBay. This will involve passing over some important information, but do not be alarmed, eBay prides itself on being one of the most secure websites on the web.

Now you have set up your eBay account, it is now time to set up your PayPal account. PayPal is used by more buyers as a means to pay you, so take some time to ensure that your details are correct. Once this is done you can link the accounts together.

Once you have set up both your eBay account and your PayPal account, take some time to familiarise yourself with the website and what it offers.

Getting your supplies

The trick here is to identify what people buy, and try and source those products for as cheaply as possible. This will mean you can make money and shift your stock as quickly as possible. Look in to how and where you can get these supplies from, both locally and nationally.

Before you start selling on eBay, you will need a few things yourself. You will need to invest in the following items:

  • Printer: to print out postage labels and packing slips.

  • Digital Camera: to take professional pictures of the stock you want to sell.

  • Postage Scales: to accurately record and send your packages to your customers, and to ensure you are charging the right amount of postage per item, or collection of items.

Arranging delivery

Now you have an account and you have identified what you want to sell, it is time to arrange for an ebay courier service to delivery to your customers.

mailboxes

There are many courier services that you can choose from, including the Royal Mail or a specialist courier service like Eurotrans Express Courier Service. The most important thing to look for is speed and reliability. It will all form part of your eBay business, so having a good courier provider will ensure that you get the reputation you want.

Listing your items

With everything in place, it is now time to start selling your items on eBay. Do some research on your chosen product first, to see who is selling it and how they are selling it. Look at how successful or not the item has been and do not be afraid to take good tips away from other sellers.

Another important thing to consider, when listing your items, is how you want to sell them. eBay offers two very different ways, either by auction or buy it now. These different ways a quite self explanatory, but it very much depends on the items you are selling.

As this is your business it is essential that you set up the listing in a clear and concise manner, not confusing your audience and by using the correct language and grammar.

Before selling your items on eBay, research your chosen product to identify competitors and assess their pricing, descriptions, and shipping options. This can help you understand the market demand, and identify ways to differentiate your listings and offer competitive prices and shipping options. It’s also essential to learn about eBay’s policies, fees, and seller tools to optimize your listings and protect your business.

Real estate can be a complex and multifaceted field, and there are many factors that can impact its value and performance. Location is one of the most important considerations when it comes to real estate, as properties in desirable or up-and-coming areas are often in high demand and can command higher prices.
