How to replace a D battery with a C battery

June 4, 2013 By Jason

My son loves to sleep in his bouncy seat, especially when the vibration is on. Because he loves to sleep that way, we have gone through a lot of D size batteries. One night we found that “someone” had left the buzz on (as we like to call it) and the battery was dead. To top it all off we were out of D batteries, and I didn’t feel like going all the way to the store just for batteries. I remembered reading once that you can use coins and a smaller battery in the place of a bigger battery. We had a pack of C batteries in the fridge (to be used for a different baby toy) so it was time to put this theory to the test. Here is a picture of a C and D size battery.

The coins connect the negative side of the battery to the spring which completes the electical circuit. You can use any thing metal to connect that battery to the spring but it’s easy use coins because they are round like a battery and you can add as many as you need to fill in the gap.
