My very first introduction to etsy was while I was watching Martha Stewart several years ago. The owner of the etsy shop TheBlackApple was on Martha’s show to demonstrate how to make her handmade dolls. I fell instantly in love with these super adorable dolls and set out to make one that very morning; I printed out the template and got to work.
My sister saw the doll I made and decided to make one for our niece’s first birthday. The fun thing about these dolls is that everyone can be different. They can have different skin colors, different hair colors and any color/pattern combo for the clothing that you could think of! I made mine blond with light skin for my daughter, and my sister made one with darker skin and black hair for our niece who is Indonesian. They are super simple and so cute! Here is the article from MarthaStewart.com that has the tutorials ans template, here is a link to TheBlackApple on etsy, and here is creator Emily Martin’s super cute blog! Thanks to Martha and Emily for this super fun craft!

Cute! My sister actually made a doll just like these for my daughter’s birthday a couple of years ago. She put cute red pigtails to make it look like my little red-head. Love it!
