I recently was able to try the game “Highwater,” which arrives on Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on March 14. This game is an interesting “chillout voyage across a climate apocalypse.”
Though a little creepy, with some foul language (we played with the sound off, but there’s subtitles) I had some fun with this game. It’s normally not my style, but I love a game that has quests and different tasks to accomplish and this game has all that. My favorite aspect of the game was driving my boat from place to place collecting all the items we needed to complete tasks. When it came time to fight the bad guys I passed it off to my husband because the fighting is a puzzle to solve, and that’s his forté. The good thing is that even if you die in the fight, the game just resets to the beginning of the fight so you don’t lose any progress. It might take a couple rounds to figure out what items you can use to help you win the battle.
Over all this is a pretty fun game, though rated for Teens and they mean it. There some dark songs and commentary that come across the radio on the boat as you are driving around, so I’d stick with the suggested age range of the game. I enjoy playing this after I send my kids to bed.
