Having a household is expensive. Buying couches, chairs, tables, appliances, beds and more to fill your house is expensive. When you make those purchases you want them to last. There are steps you can take to help protect your big items and keep them nice and lasting longer. Use a table cloth on your nice wood dining room table. I put a fabric runner across the top of my piano and then place pictures frames on top of that to prevent scratching. We put scotch guard on our microfiber couches to protect them from spills and stains. We use mattress pads on our mattresses to keep them nice and clean. I’m very glad that there are different types of mattress protects for various stages of life.
Organic Cotton Multi-Use Pad
My baby wears diapers so we have a nice cushy mattress pad to change him on. In order to keep this pad nice we use a protector to go on top of it. Now I can also use this Cotton Multi-Use Pad to go onto of the cover. This will keep the changing pad clean and things sanitary. It’ll be easy to just toss the pad into the washing machine when it needs to be cleaned. I’m glad to have an extra pad around because there are days when it just seems like I go through pad after pad. The great thing about this pad is that it is a very nice size at 27 in x 36 in and can be used for a variety of uses. Besides topping my changing table it can be used to cover the floor so my baby has a soft and clean surface to play on. I can use it as a travel changing pad when we are out and about. I can use it to cover any kind of surface I need to stay clean. I also love that it is organic, waterproof and offers dust mite protection. This would make a great baby shower gift if you know an expecting Momma.
Waterproof Mattress Protector
My son decided to get potty trained a little later in life than most. This was very frustrating to me as a parent, but I had learned from my first child to not pressure him. Forcing him to do it wouldn’t lead to anything good so I laid back and let him turn 4 and still be in a diaper ( I KNOW! It almost killed me!) Finally when he decided he was ready he potty trained basically over night. Speaking of nights, he has only ever had 1 night accident. I credit that to letting him go at his own pace. Just to make sure his nice, brand new Naturepedic mattress stays completely natural (it’s ok to laugh, I put that joke in there on purpose) this Comfort Shield waterproof mattress protector is just the thing we needed. It simply goes over the mattress and like a fitted sheet it encompasses the whole thing. This protector is waterproof and absorbent so if he ever has any issues it will protect the new mattress! This mattress protector also has a lifetime warranty so I feel confident in this product.
Premium Sheet Protector
I’m not at the stage of life where I am concerned about my own bed, but I’m glad there are products for that purposes father down the road. The Premium Sheet Protector is a large, soft and absorbent pad that goes on top of your bottom sheet. Think of it like chucks that you would use in the hospital (they are blue on the back and white on the top). If I ever have another baby instead of using chucks on my bed at home (I was worried about my water breaking and ruining my mattress, or after the baby… TMI) Anyway, this is a soft pad unlike those made of plastic. It won’t made a loud noise. Its soft and comfy to sleep on and will protect your sheets and mattress.
If you or anyone you know is in any of these stages, share this information with them. I know I didn’t know before I received these pads that the products existed. I’m so glad to have two of my mattresses protected and have an extra protector available whenever I need it!

A good mattress pad/cover makes all the difference. We finally bought a really nice one that encompasses the entire mattress for our son for Christmas. He was frustrated because his sheets kept slipping off the bed because his mattress cover kept slipping off the bed. This solved the problem…for all of us!

My daughter cannot sleep well at night I think because of her mattress, so I changed her mattress yesterday and there’s a big difference. She sleeps well! Thank you for sharing Stefanie!
