Flutterbye Fairy – A Hot Holiday Toy

October 16, 2014 By Stefanie

I received a product for review and compensation for this post. All opinions are mine own.

Walmart-Event

Remember when I told you about the #ChosenByKids toy tester events at Walmart? We went to that event and it was a lot of fun, mostly because it seemed like no one else in the store cared it was happening so we had the toys to ourselves.#ChosenByKids-Event

Demonstrated at the event were Doh Vinci, Flutterbye Fairies, Kinetic Sand and Little Live Pets. The lady running the event was most interested in the Doh Vinci so that is what she had out and ready to play with. We had previously play with Doh Vinci so my daughter knew just what to do. The event lady didn’t have a clue so she let me daughter show her how to load the tool, use the tips and decorate with Doh Vinci. It was a lot of fun!

My daughter was most interested in learning more about and playing with the Flutterbye Fairy but it wasn’t charged yet. We decided to take a stroll down the toy isle to see the fairies. It turns out they come in a lot of different colors. My daughter really liked the rainbow one so we bought it and brought it home. After discovering that it takes 6 AA batteries, that we didn’t have, a couple of days later when the batteries were bought we were finally able to start playing with the fairy.

First impressions of the toy are that it is a tad scary. Once the fairy is fully charged and ready to fly, the process of making it fly is quite easy. You unplug it from the base, make sure it is turned on and hold the button on the base down. It then starts spinning and flying into the air. What’s scary about that? Well it is on the noisy side and spinning so fast that it would definitely hurt if it ran into you. To keep the fairy in the air you hold your hand up underneath it. It uses the air pushed off your hand to float up again. It can use other objects to float. It has hard to control where it flies and so most of the time we were chasing it around the house trying to keep it in the air and from hitting walls.

After you get used to the noises and the spinning the fairy is a ton of fun. My kids love playing with it and chasing it around. Check out this video I put on instagram of the Fairy in action (for some reason it wouldn’t load on my site).

There is still time to be a toy tester at #ChosenByKids event at Walmart. The events run through December so check out the site to get details on when an event is happening near you.

Don’t forget about Walmart’s FREE layaway program so you can start preparing for Christmas now!

The fairy was charging when we went to the event too and didn’t get to see it in action. Glad you posted a video.

We had those dohvinci things–they didn’t last long because the girls played with the stylus thing for an hour straight! lol

Well, if I had a girl, I’m sure she would love it. I think the fairy is adorable. Anything that moves and/or flies would be excellent for my little boy, however he’s at the age of knowing the difference…so this cute little fairy may just be bought for one of my nieces!!

My daughter loved playing with the Flutterbye at the toy event. I had to sneak back and buy it so it’s going to be a BIG surprise come Christmas morning!
