Fancy, Kid Friendly Holiday Place Setting

December 18, 2015 By Stefanie

Fancy-KidFriendly-Holiday-Place-Setting-Table
Eight years ago my little family of three drove away from “home”, from the state we grew up, from everything we knew. We drove off to move to Kansas. I hadn’t ever been there and we didn’t know a single person. My husband had just been laid off from his job and managed to get a new job in central Kansas  quickly. Feeling blessed by the quick hire we headed off into unknown territory.

Now on our second job, second state in the midwest, and 2 more kids, we are still without family nearby. Having been alone for most holidays over the past eight years, we are now somewhat used to it. As our friends and neighbors gather with their families during the holidays, I try my best to make our own holiday celebrations special.

The holiday season is a time of joy for many. Family and friends gather together to celebrate and uphold traditions. While we will be having some fun with friends this holiday season, when my family of 5 sits down enjoy our traditional Christmas dinner it will be special, fancy, and kid friendly thanks to Kimberly Clark products from Walmart.

Folded-Paper-Towel
I wanted to use our fancy china and silverware for our dinner, but was worried about our kids using it. After I spoke with my husband he came up with the idea to let them use the plates, but he would make special place settings for them with plastic utensils. He showed me how to fold Viva® Paper Towels as a special tableware pocket. This would be a special added touch to our place setting.

Directions for folding your paper towel:

It’s pretty easy to do and the Viva® Paper Towels are very durable so they are a good option.  Now when you set the table just tuck the tableware into the pouch for a fancy place setting. Even though we are giving our kids plastic utensils, they have the pouch and feel like a special guest at the table.

Beyond Viva® Paper Towels I am also stocking my house with the best products for my family and friends. Notice the darling Kleenex® Perfect Fit Christmas slim canister in the top picture. It fits in perfect with my ornament candles as the center piece on my holiday table.

So cute! I think kids love to be included in the formal traditions of the holidays. It makes them feel grown up. I will have to do this at Christmas dinner.

I love that cute place setting. How you folded that paper towel is so cute. I also love those new Kleenex tissue canisters. They’re so pretty for leaving out on the table!

I remember when my husband, children and I lived in OK for 4 years. I also remember trying to make everything festive for those Christmases we couldn’t go home to GA. That napkin fold is so pretty and I’m going to try to duplicate it on my table this year.

This is super cute! The kids love to have a dressy grown up table setting like the adults do. How fun!

I think that this is great to help the kids feel included and appreciated. Plus, it is great practice for when you begin taking them to upscale restaurants – they will know what’s going on! Very cute and fun idea!

I love this. Mostly because it shows me I actually can make things nice, even on a budget 🙂

This is great! The kids always outnumber the adults at our family holiday gatherings. They will love this!

My hubby worked in a restaurant for a long time when he was younger. He still remembers how to fold paper napkins into fun shapes.

Such a lovely idea! My girls would really enjoy making this place setting and be able to sit and eat there for a fancy dinner.

This is a great idea for the kids (and this will also save on washing dishes)! I think I will do this for the kids that come to my house this year 😀

Thanks for this idea. I am going to do this at our Christmas dinner. We have a lot of kids planned for dinner so this would be a fun thing for them to feel special for sure!
