We are about to leave on vacation to go to Seattle for my Brother’s-in-law wedding. For this wedding my Mother-in-law made my daughter a dress to perfectly match their wedding colors. She then sent me the scraps of fabric and asked that I make a hair accessory for her. I’ve never made a fabric hair accessories so I searched online for some easy tutorials. This is what I came up with! My favorite tutorial came from Wise Craft. She provided a template to download, so you could cut out the flower shapes instead of eyeball it. Since she already has written out the tutorial I will just show you my step by step pictures of making the flower clip.
I first cut out two large flowers.
Then you need to cut 4 smaller flowers. I cut 2 from my base fabric and 2 from a different fabric. I printed the flowers on some scrap paper I had laying around, that’s why there is writing on my paper.
Here are all my flowers cut out.
You then lay down flat the two large flowers. The fold the 4 smaller flowers in half and stack them on each other as seen in the picture. Kind of like folding a box top shut and not needing to tape it. Once the petals were in placeĀ you sew a few stitches to keep them all in place. If you look close you can see my gray stitches.
Once your petals are in place, then sew your cute matching button in place.
After everything is sewn on, then sew a matching piece of felt on the back of the flower.
Then glue your clip on the back of the flower and viola! A cute flower clip! When we get home from the wedding I’ll share pictures of how my daughter looks in this hair accessories!
