Cleaning-Untangled-Hero

We sing a song at our house that starts with the phrase “Saturday is a special day”. It then goes on to talk about all the chores we do on Saturday to prepare for Sunday (which is a day of rest at our house). Saturday’s are used to clean our house and then be rewarded with fun. We spend the morning with the children cleaning, organizing and learning how to work hard so that we can have a fun afternoon and evening together. All of the chores that need to be done are easy, including vacuuming, except for a certain room in the house. My room tends to be covered in hair because I shed like crazy. For this reason prior to vacuuming my bedroom and bathroom there are spots that have to be cleaned up by hand. Prior to receiving the Eureka Brushroll Clean™ with SuctionSeal® either my husband or I would use our hands to clean up as much hair as we could in our bedroom, closet and bathroom floors. “Regular” vacuums don’t have a way to get rid of hair that gets stuck in the rollers, so it was best to just pick up as much hair as we could and spare our poor vacuum roller.

new-old-vacuum-collage

I used scissors to clean out our old vacuum just 3 weeks ago and it’s already covered in hair again!

It never occurred to me that there would be a day when a self-cleaning, hair cutting vacuum would be on the market. I assumed that my husband and I would forever be taking turns cleaning out the vacuum roller. We would take scissors and cut the hairs and strings that would get stuck in the roller causing it to either roll more slowly or stop all together. It was a nasty job to cut the hair out and it often took a very long time. Whenever it was my turn I would use our sharpest scissors to cut as much as I could but I couldn’t ever get it perfectly clean. Get ready for an amazement you (well, at least I) never expected: the Eureka Brushroll Clean™ with SuctionSeal® is a self-cleaning, hair cutting brushroll vacuum. It is super amazing and works so fantastically. The day the vacuum arrived at my house (now on sale at Walmart for $199.98). I was so excited to go vacuum my bedroom without cleaning up the hair by hand first! I was looking forward to get the brushroll covered in hair so I could test out the self-cleaning feature. Watch it work! https://youtu.be/Fwj88CzAwPg That was amazing right? It’s so easy and only takes about 20 seconds to get the brush roll perfectly clean.

Check out the brushroll. This picture is the brand new out, out of the box vacuum roller, then after I vacuumed my bedroom and closet and lastly after I used the self-cleaning feature to clean the brushroll. I’m seriously giddy over this new vacuum! Like I mentioned, Saturday is our chore day. My kids are much more happy to do their chores when they have a chart to check off their progress. Check out this cute printable chore chart below that you can use to get your kids started on their chores as well.

Chore Chart (PDF) Chore Chart 2 on 1 (PDF) Both pages are on one sheet

HOW TO: Printing 2 pages on 1 sheet

When we print chore charts for our kids I like you print them out on just half a sheet of paper. It is really easy to do this in the printer settings. Here is an example when you are printing a PDF.

Print 2 pages on 1 sheet of paper

In the Page Sizing & Handling section click the Multiple button, then pick 2 Pages per sheet. It’s that easy! Besides the extremely helpful self-cleaning brushroll there are other features of this vacuum I find wonderful. The cord is automatic. I love that I can pull a little cord out as I need it instead of having feet and feet of vacuum cord everywhere. With a simple push of a button it automatically rewinds and is put away. This vacuum also has SuctionSeal® technology which means it has a concentrated airflow for deep cleaning on carpets and bare floors. I love that I can adjust the brushroll depending on my carpet type. I seriously love, love this vacuum! Wondering what chores your kids can do on their own? Check out my list of 100 chores for kids broken down by age groups.

I think this is awesome, I have even purchased high end vacuums and this has always been a pain taking hair off the roller. I have long hair and have always had pets, mostly with long hair.

Great post! I like our family clean up time to be before 5 when my husband comes home from work. I think he deserves to come to a tidy house. I also like to follow a cleaning schedule. Monday is bathrooms & glass, Tues – vacuum, Wed – dust, etc. It is always good to read what works for others. As a family of 7, I am always looking to improve things around the house.
