Chillow – A Chilly Pillow

December 4, 2013 By Stefanie

Disclosure: I received a free product sample for review in my Holiday Gift Guide. All experiences and opinions are my own. Yours may differ.

Chillow

My husband and I are opposites in a lot of things, especially when it comes to temperature. He is usually cold and I am usually hot. Even in the winter I prefer to have the ceiling fan on because I like the cool breeze. My husband, on the other hand, ends up wearing a sweatshirt and snuggling under many layers of blankets. Now we can turn off the fan, my husband can be more comfortable and I can still be cool, because now I have the Chillow!

To use the Chillow you simply fill it with 7-8 cups of warm water, let it rest for 4 hours, roll out the air bubbles and you are ready to go! One side of the Chillow is a soft cloth, the other side is a cool plastic. Depending on how cool you want the Chillow to be you either sleep fabric side or plastic side up. You can also place the Chillow in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to make it extra cool. You can use they Chillow with or without a pillowcase.

Check out this picture from the Chillow website about how well the Chillow works to keep you cool at night. Instead of absorbing your body heat it releases it, keeping you cool.

My Experience with the Chillow

I tend to prefer a pillowcase, and I don’t think my face would have enjoyed sleeping on either of the sides of the Chillow so I put it in a case to sleep with it. I also didn’t put it in the refrigerator because I wanted to see how cool it would be on it’s own. Turns out it is very cool on it’s own. Having it in the pillowcase was perfect because it was quite cold. It took a little getting used to because it was laying on top of my pillow. I made sure the valve was at the top of the pillow so I wouldn’t accidentally lay on it. Since it is winter and I’m not super hot the Chillow ended up being too cold for now. I’m really looking forward to summer when our house will be 75 degrees and I need a burst of cold. I have a feeling I will be carrying the Chillow around with me in the summer. It worked amazingly well!

Buy It

You can order your own Chillow on their website. Each Chillow costs $12.99 plus processing and handling. There is also a double order option on the site as well! If you know someone who is usually hot, this would be a GREAT gift for them.
