April 8, 2014 By Jason

Explanation of Silhouette Portrait buttons

It has been really fun using the Silhouette Portrait. Main Features The Portrait only weighs 3.5 pounds so it easy to carry anywhere. The maximum cutting width is 8 inches. It's small and compact. When you close the lid there are no visible buttons which makes for a really sleek design.Load cutting mat: when using a cutting mat use this button to load the cutting mat into the machineLoad media: when cutting vinyl or heat transfer material use this buttonUnload: when the cutting … [Read more...]

Make Your Own Watering Can

March 14, 2014 By Stefanie

I recently saw somewhere on the internet (I'm sooo observant!) that you could make your very own watering can from things you have at home! SCORE! Since my watering can broke about 2 years ago and I haven't bought a new one yet (I'm cheap!) I do desperately need one though. A couple of days ago I went out to water my pretty daffodils (which have all now died by the way, I'm a plant killer, not on purpose I might add. Hopefully next year they will come up stronger than this year and decide to … [Read more...]

Dragon Birthday Cake!

February 27, 2014 By Johanna

Last year I made my oldest daughter a dragon cake, and this year, my youngest daughter wanted a dragon cake. I have used box mixes in the past, and they were fine, but this year I looked up a yellow cake recipe from Martha Stewart. It is still a bit crumby when I tried to ice it, but it was fine. Next time, I’ll try to find a different cake mix; one that doesn’t fall to crumbs when you cut it! I’m just not that skilled yet! I used a butter cream icing recipe from … [Read more...]

Then for the words I used two different fonts, Georgia for 'jingle' and 'way', and Century Gothic for 'all' and 'the'.Next, I set the cut settings by finding the Silhouette Vinyl optionSilhouette Tip: If the cutting blade in the machine is getting dull and doesn't cut well the blade setting can be increased by 1 … [Read more...]

September 24, 2013 By Jason

This post contains affiliate links. These days whenever I need to do any cutting in a project I ask myself "how can I do this on the Silhouette."
