Carnival Cruise Craziness

February 17, 2013 By Stefanie

carnival triumphSomething I haven’t talked much about on this site (but I am going to start, be on the look out for Travel Tuesday starting soon!) is how much I love to travel. I have been several places around the world, most I love, some I didn’t. We have also taken a couple cruises I’d like to share with you eventually.

My family LOVES cruises. We are pretty addicted to them and for a while we were lucky enough to go on at least one a year for several years. Now that we have moved away from family, and a cruise port and added a third child, the cruises are happening less frequently.

I was very interested in keep up-to-date with the whole tragedy with the Carnival Triumph. That was a horrible situation for all those vacationers and I feel horrible for them! BUT and there is a big BUT, if I had been on that cruise with my husband (NO children) I wouldn’t be the least put out with the compensation they are receiving. Yes they endured horrible circumstances, but in return they are refunded their entire trip amount, get credit for a free cruise in the amount they spent on that cruise and $500 a piece! That doesn’t seem quite like a tragedy to me!

Carnival of course would never wish for those horrible circumstances during a trip. They want to impress their guests so they will keep coming back for more. They did their best under the circumstances and tried to compensate them generously to appease the group. I think the compensation was very generous and fitting the circumstances. The people that already have, and I assume will be in the coming days, filing a lawsuit, are pathetic! The whole situation was an accident, which means it isn’t anyone’s fault, and suing the company won’t fix what has already happened! Grow some big boy pants and take your compensation and move on with your life! Go on your free cruise and laugh about the past! Some people have never and will never go on a cruise, so although you had to live in nasty circumstances for a few days, you are blessed to have experienced such an amazing vacation!

    Bad things happen, unfortunately.
But I’ve been in a cruise with them before and was great.

I totally agree the compensation is more than fair. I only feel bad for those who might have issues with missing the extra days off work and potentially losing a job because of a situation that was out of their control completely.

I agree Ashley. I would hope that employers would practice a little compassion towards this situation. Just like the cruise goers should also have compassion and not sue carnival.

I’m hoping that this maybe will bring down cruise prices for a while.

What has been going on with Carnival can happen with any cruise ship. My husband & I have gone on Carnival before. We had a super time & plan to go again next year.

There have been too many bad things happening these days with cruises. I’d love to do an Alaskan one but I’m a bit scared these days.

My husband would love to go on a cruise. I, however, am reluctant. I get motion sickness really easy and am terrified that I would spend the whole trip sea sick.

I also get motion sickness, but on a cruise you really can’t feel the rocking. Unless there is a storm at sea, it really is smooth sailing. Of course, they do hand out free Dramamine should you need it! 🙂
