November 12, 2013 By Stefanie

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Carton Smart. All opinions are 100% mine.

All of the stores have switched their decorations over to Christmas. I have also started to think about the holidays and the ingredients I need for our traditional meals. It was a plesantly surprised to learn about Tetra Pak cartons and how I can Become Carton Smart this holiday season. Did you know a lot of the ingredients we use for holiday baking is available in a paper carton?

We aren’t the biggest fans of cranberry sauce as a side dish, but we do LOVE sweet and sour meatballs, which requires cranberry sauce. I just replaced my canned cranberry sauces with cartons of cranberry sauce!

I had no idea I could find these holiday staples in a carton. If we all would make one earth smart choice and swap one of our regular canned ingredients with a Tetra Pak carton from carton smart that would make a positive impact!

  • Tetra Pak cartons are made from 70% paper that comes from selectively harvested, re-grown trees that are Forrest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified.
  • Cartons use 1/3 of the packaging compared to cans.
  • Cartons are space saving! They are easily stackable and don’t require special tools, such as a can opener, to open them.
  • The unique packaging preserves the food and flavor without using preservatives.
  • The cartons are recyclable and result in 60% less waste than cans.
  • Cartons are recloseable do you can store them for later use.

There are so many benefits, I want to share with you this infographic to really display the benefits of being #CartonSmart.

All organic jellied cranberry sauce?! I’m sold. I asked Ocean Spray to make an organic variety of canned cranberry sauce, and they basically told me to “go take a hike.” As soon as I am seeing this in the store, I am buying it!
