Autumn makes me feel crafty! I think because the weather is cooler I feel more inclined to do things rather than just sit in front of the air conditioner! I was searching on pinterest for some easy fall decor crafts and found a couple things. Here is the easy tutorial for my first autumn craft!
I searched several craft stores for some wood letters in a font that I liked. Finally I came to Michael’s and liked this font the best. I also settled for the paper that was on sale. I didn’t get exactly the paper I wanted, but I still think it is cute. Since it is Autumn I was searching for yellows, oranges, maroons and green. Here is step by step what I did to get these cute wood letters covered.
1. Turn the letter backwards so that you are tracing it correctly on the paper, otherwise the paper will be backwards. I used a fine tip pen so that I could get as close to the letter as possible. I don’t like to have too much paper hanging over the edge.
2. Once your letters are traced and cut out it’s time to mod podge them onto the wood letters! I used a foam brush and put a light layer on the wood. You don’t want it too thick or the paper will bubble.
3. Now you need to let it really dry. I placed them paper side down on the table to dry to also help reduce the risk of bubbles forming under the paper. Once they were dry I put them up on my shelf! Now between the letters and the pumpkin spice candle on the candle warmer I’m ready for more fall colors around my house! Stay tuned for more fall crafts!
