Leven Thumps

May 24, 2012 By Johanna

Any youth/young adult fantasy readers out there? Have I got a series for you!! Now, I know I'm one of the last to catch the Leven Thumps craze, but if you haven't read them, you should. My mom went all out for Christmas; she got us all the complete set (5 books) for our collections. My kiddos aren't quite old enough to sit through a book that has more than 20 pages and no pictures, but I read them on my own and was highly entertained the entire time! If you LOVE fantasy, these are for you! … [Read more...]

Kansas City Temple

May 15, 2012 By Johanna

This post is overdue by about a month! Our trip to the temple was so nice! The girls behaved like the angels I pretend they are. Our pictures didn’t turn out wonderful because the sun was super bright and it was too windy to keep our dresses from blowing away. But, I got some cute shots of the girls at the fountain which was their favorite part outside. They were so excited when I told them they got to go inside the temple- since they are not old enough to go in normally, an open house (before … [Read more...]

Cricut Fun!

May 10, 2012 By Johanna

Okay Cricut users!! Time for you to chime in! I just got a Cricut and I’ve only just begun exploring the wondrous world of Cricut! So far, it has been super fun! I only have 2 cartridges, so I am limited, but here are my little projects thus far…  First, I made this cute paper doll. Since I have the Classic Font cartridge and the Playtime cartridge, I just used the same craft paper I used for my origami post. This cute little doll is made from 4 layers and my girls love … [Read more...]

May 8, 2012 By Johanna

They’re here!! The MOST AMAZING Ruffle Bum Bloomers I have EVER seen! Melinda from my2lilpixies has been making these for about a year now and she is an amazing seamstress; they look like something you would find in a high-end baby boutique. They are stitched to perfection, and you can tell by looking at it that they will not fall apart under pressure! These bloomers are made from a cotton/lycra blend with chiffon ruffles. They are so soft and fluffy! The material washes really nice … [Read more...]

Homemade Pizza

May 3, 2012 By Johanna

So I completely forgot about my pizza stone when I wrote the post about my favorite yards sale buys. My sister and I went to a sale where a Pampered Chef Consultant was getting rid of her old stock to make room for new items. I bought a brand new 12inch Pampered Chef pizza stone for $10!! (They are normally $30 or more! Woot!) Pizza stones are amazing! If you haven’t tried them, you should! One of our favorite quick and easy meals is “homemade” pizza. Since I am the poster-girl for lazy … [Read more...]

Strawberry Pretzel Dessert

April 26, 2012 By Johanna

Every once in a while, we each stumble across a great recipe that we promise to continue creating until perfection for countless days. However, as soon as a new treat comes along, we stick the old one into a box and rarely look back. A few weeks ago, I was reminded of a delicious recipe that returned to my life through a newspaper sidebar. My children remembered this delicious strawberry pretzel dessert and insisted that I make it again. Having not created this dish for several years, my family … [Read more...]

How to Have a Successful Yard Sale

April 17, 2012 By Johanna

Welcome to the final post of my  yard sales series.“You get out of it what you put into it.” I have no idea where that quote comes from, but it is totally relevant to this blog post! Yard sales are WORK! But fortunately, work = $$Leave yourself plenty of time during the preceding week to get everything ready. These tips may seem obsessive, but trust me, they are VERY beneficial! Pay attention:Note the date of your city’s city-wide yard sale. Many times, that comes with some perks. … [Read more...]

Easter Decor!

March 22, 2012 By Johanna

Since we got a jump-start on our egg dying, I went through BHG and picked out my favorite decorating ideas. I tweaked different ways of egg-dying and different décor ideas to turn them into projects that I thought we could do with supplies that we already had.The first idea is natural died eggs on a cute egg tree! We blew out our eggs by poking a hole in each end and blowing. (Super gross and messy!) Then we tried to dye our eggs from natural ingredients. To make lavender, mix 1 cup of grape … [Read more...]
