Ark Encounter – You Need to Visit

July 4, 2024 By Stefanie

We received 2 media passes in exchange for my post. All opinions are my own.

Have you ever heard parents talk about only have 18 summers with their children before they leave for college? Well this is summer 18 and we decided to go all out to make as many family memories before our oldest heads to college. In June we took a trip to the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, KY. It is ever bit as impressive as the website makes it look.

After a short bus ride from the ticket counter to the ark, you get out of the bus to a beautiful view of the grounds and the ark. I’ve been wanting to visit for years so I was really excited about getting inside.

Inside the ark is essentially a 3 story museum about how Noah and his family built the ark, could have housed all the animals, and survived their time in the flood. Using the Bible as much as possible and creative license to make up the difference, it was really interesting. Previously I hadn’t though much about how to take care of, feed, water, and dispose of the waste of all those animals. Their possible solutions to those issues was really incredible.

The architecture of the ark alone was impressive even without all the museum parts. There were animal enclosures, the story of the bible up until the flood, movies, what Noah’s family’s space could have looked like and a ton of exhibits. We really loved it. After you’ve visited all the floors of the museum you are guided out through a gift shop. It had a lot of interesting items, as well as ice cream and treats. I was impressed with the prices at the gift shop as I didn’t think things were too expensive.

Outside of the ark, there are still a ton if activities to do on the grounds that are included in your ticket. There is a zoo, park, a few restaurants, a carousel, and gift shops.

If you want to enhance your visit there are paid experiences like camel rides, zip line, mining sluice, a VR experience, behind the scenes tours and more!

In addition to the ark you can buy combo tickets to visit the Creation Museum in addition to the ark or a season pass. As this was just the first day of a long road trip for us we just visited the ark, but I’m glad we had a whole day to spend there. We were there for about 7 hours, and still didn’t read everything or do everything. My family loved it and I recommend a visit!
