7 Simple Carry On Luggage Packing Tips

Carry-On-Luggage-Tips

If you want to avoid checking luggage, these simple carry on luggage packing tips will help you to make that much easier to manage.  Traveling with just your carry on bag makes it so much easier when you arrive at your destination.  Plus you don’t have to worry about losing your luggage in between your departure and destination.

7 Simple Carry On Luggage Packing Tips

Pack liquids in front pockets.  One of the biggest struggles with packing only carry on luggage comes when you have to unload everything at the security counter before you get to your plane.  Pack you liquids in the simple quart bag in the front zipper pocket of your carry on luggage.  When you reach security you only have to unzip one pocket to get out the items and place in the bin.  This keeps you from digging through your clothes, or having underwear suddenly spill out of your bag in front of everyone.

Pack electronics together.  Packing all electronics together will also make security much easier to manage.  If you are carrying a separate laptop bag or personal bag, group chargers, tablets, laptops, etc. together so you can easily open one compartment and put everything into a bin with ease.  Digging through multiple zippered pockets can hold up the line and make it difficult to repack.

Roll clothing instead of folding.  Rolling clothing not only takes up less space, it also helps prevent wrinkles.  This is a great way to get more clothing into your carry on bag while not over stuffing your bag so it won’t fit in the overhead compartment.   This simple carry on luggage packing tip is one of the pros favorites.

Leave the extra shoes at home.  If you are sure you only want to take one bag, then limit the number of shoes you pack.  A simple comfortable pair of travel shoes to wear on the plane, one pair of dress shoes if you are going to be working or at an event that requires dressing up and a pair of sandals if headed to the beach.  If you can limit to only one or two pair it is even better.

Stuff small items inside shoes. If you must pack an extra pair of shoes in your carry on bag, then you will want to stuff smaller items inside your shoes to use up that space as well.  This is a great place to tuck belts, scarves, camisoles, socks or underwear.

Pack in kits.  One great travel tip is to put outfits into large gallon plastic bags creating kits for each day.  This makes it easy to grab out that days essentials without digging through your bag.  This works best for dresses, thin clothing items and kids clothing.  It is tough to manage with jeans or sweaters since they are often too bulky to go inside a bag easily.  You may also want to look into using a vacuum seal bag to create more room if you need to pack bulky things like sweaters.

Pack a capsule.  A clothing capsule is where you pick 5-10 pieces that easily mix and match creating a multitude of outfits without having to pack so many separate outfits  This usually has solid colored basic pieces like pants, skirts, camisoles and dresses.  You then have coordinating colored or print jackets, vests, scarves, etc. to make the outfits unique and different.

Leave the extra shoes at home.  While you may want to pack a shoe for every occasion, just don’t.  If you are traveling for business, find a nice comfortable pair of flats for those days in airports.  Pack your sensible heels in your bag.  Avoid the stilettos, boots and uncomfortable shoes during travel.  You can still look polished without sacrificing your feet.

These simple carry on luggage packing tips are going to make your next flight much easier to manage!
