7 Secrets on How to Potty Train a Boy

Many new parents are actually having a hard time on learning how to potty train a boy. Although there are many great potty training books and other resources, which you can actually use to help yourself resolve this toddler issue, it is still important that you learn the basic pointers.

In fact, potty training a boy is not hard at all as it seems to be.

As we all know, it is important that we help our little man learn how to use his potty as early as possible in order to prevent any health issues from occurring like urinary tract infection. Read on and find out more on how you can help and teach your little tykes to use their potty training seats.

1. Evaluate your child’s eagerness

Before you start teaching your child on how to use his potty training seat, it is important that you evaluate his eagerness first. Is he willing to learn? It is essential that you find and evaluate their willingness and never force your little tyke.

It will help a lot if you will observe your little tyke first. Is he showing signs that he is willing to do things all by himself like pulling up his pants using his potty training seat? Is your child’s bladder and bowel control fully developed? These are just some of the important things you should consider.

2. Let’s prepare our shopping list

Toilet training boys is easy! You just need to prepare your shopping list that will help you with how to potty train a boy task.

Here are the important things you should get:

  • Anatomically baby boy doll
  • Two or three potties. This will be very useful so you will have some around your house in case your little tyke need to pee.
  • Underpants. It will be very effective if you will get several pieces with colourful designs preferably with cartoon characters. You can still use diapers but make sure that you use them as underpants so your child will know their differences. It will help if you will let your son choose the ones he likes to wear. This will surely add up more ease on your side.

3. Train the doll first

If you wish to teach your son to use his potty chair the right way then you should show him first how to use it with the help of that anatomically baby boy doll. Though it may look silly, this way your son will surely be more encourage and motivate to learn the ways on how to use his potty in no time. Make sure to let him do it on the doll as well. So you can be sure he will be doing it the right way.

4. Celebrate

There is a certain potty training doll, which you can purchase. This one is actually fairly effective potty training for boys. This doll has stickers on it which you should stick on the dolls’ hand each time your child learns one thing from his training tasks.

You should even celebrate it when this doll accomplishes something. Through this, your son will be more encouraged learning his trainings since he will be more motivated with such celebrations.

5. Say goodbye to diapers

Though it may be hard, now is the time to say goodbye to diapers for good. Unless you are going to travel for hours then it will help if you let your son to wear his diapers. But when he is home, make sure to let him wear those underpants. Let him choose the one he wishes to wear so he will be more encourage.

6. Let your child drink more fluids

This might seem as opposite to how to potty train boys but it is not. The more your little tyke drinks fluids the more he will need to use his potty training seat. Through this, they will learn how to use their boy potty training seats. Each time he used his seat, make sure that you praise him and give more encouragement.

7. Always ask your little tyke if he needs to use his potty

When he said no then don’t force him. Since you are giving him lots of fluids, he will soon need it. Forcing your son will only make him feel uncomfortable. Let him do the stuff on his own but don’t forget to offer your help. These are the most important pointers you should learn and know that will guide you and your little tyke when it comes to potty training.
