Candy conversation hearts are all the rage during the Valentine’s Day season. Not only are they colorful and fun, but they are an inexpensive treat too. If you are looking for fun ways to use these tiny hearts, give these 10 creative uses for conversation hearts a try. You will never look at these candy hearts the same way again.

1. Play a sorting game.
Help little ones learn their colors when you play the candy hearts sorting game. Take baking cups and place one heart on the inside of each. Let kids take a handful of hearts and sort them into the cups by color. This makes for a fun and hands on way of learning.

2. Use them as filler.
Fill vases with handfuls of candy conversation hearts. Gather the vases for some instant décor, or place a battery operated votive in the vases for a chic and frugal centerpiece.

3. Turn them into topping.
Give your ice cream and other desserts a spin when you turn these candies into toppings. Place them in a baggie and use a hammer to gently break them apart. Sprinkle the colorful bits on cupcakes, cakes, ice cream, and other desserts.

4. Practice patterns.
Little ones can practice building patterns with a handful of conversation hearts. Give them a handful and let them build patterns by color. For example they can do pink, blue, pink, blue, or they can get more complex with pink, blue, yellow, pink, blue, yellow. The choices are endless.

5. Accessorize!
Find some barrettes at your local dollar tree. Use hot glue to attach the candy conversation hearts to the barrettes for some instant Valentine’s Day accessories for your hair. Little girls especially are sure to love these.

6. Make pictures prettier.
Find a frame at your local dollar store and hot glue the candy hearts around it. Place your favorite picture inside and either use it to sweeten up your own home or give as a gift to someone you love.

7. Make a sweet collage.
Give your child some craft paper, glue, and a bowl of conversation hearts. Let them get creative and create a collage using the hearts. They are sure to love the hands on fun.

8. Practice fine motor skills.
Place some conversation hearts in a bowl along with some dried rice. Give your child some chopsticks or a spoon to try and scoop (or pick) the hearts out with. This is a fantastic fine motor skill building activity.

9. Add them to your sensory bins.
Conversation heart candies are a sure sign of the Valentine’s Day season. Pour some into your sensory bins for children to manipulate with measuring cups, utensils, and other objects.

10. Add them to your snack mix.
Sweeten up your snack mix when you add a cup or two of conversation hearts to your snack mix. You can use a store bought mix and add them in, or just mix some cereal, nuts, pretzels, and the candy to a bag and shake.

Who knew that candy conversation hearts were so versatile? Give these 10 creative uses for candy conversation hearts a try and see how much fun they can be.
