warmze

We have several vacations this summer which means a lot of car time. When we are in the car, I don’t have access to warm water for my baby’s bottle. For this reason I went on a hunt for a portable bottle warmer. I remember one of my sister’s had a battery operate bottle warmer for her children and I wanted something similar. Throughout my searching I never found a battery operated one, but I did find the number 1 rated bottle warmer by toptenreviews.com! That bottle warmer is from WarmZe.

WarmZe sent me their large starter kit which included two NUK bottles, a bottleSOC and 2 warming packs. The NUK bottles were medium flow, which is too fast for my baby, he needs slow flow. The WarmZe bottle warmer is super easy. It is as simple as a bottleSOC and warming pack. Just place the bottleSOC over your bottle.

IF

Then peel the paper off the sticky ends of the warming pack and wrap it around the bottleSOC. *Tip* peel from the middle of the paper. My husband started peeling from the side and almost peeled off the sticky sheet, leaving nothing behind! haha The warming pack starts getting warm as soon as the air hits it. This process is so fantastic! You don’t need batteries, no microwave, no nothing! This pack is self heating, plus there isn’t any gels or liquids so you can take this on a plane with you as well!

IF

Finish up the process by folding down the top of the bottleSOC to cover the heat pack. You don’t want to touch the heating pack directly as it does get very hot.

IF

The whole heating the bottle process takes about 30 minutes to get the water or formula to the right temperature. Always test the liquid on your wrist before giving it to your baby.

WarmZe says the heating pack lasts for 8 hours. I found that it stay warm that long, but after 6-7 hours would take much longer than 30 minutes to heat the bottle. Each warming pack is only good for a 1 time use, but they are biodegradable so there is no harm in throwing them away. You can buy warmer refills for $12.99 for 4.

I really love WarmZe. They are easy to take with you on the go. Just pack your bottle, the soc and the heating packs and you’re ready to go. They do not take much space in your diaper bag or purse.

You can purchase WarmZe bottle warmers through their website or through other retailers such as Amazon and Sky mall. This would have been a life saver on our recent flight to California, and I know it is going to help immensely on our trips this summer. I will be stocking up on my WarmZe refills!

Thank you WarmZe for letting me test this fantastic product! It definitely gets two thumbs up from Making of a Mom!

Ride Along Dolly Review

By Stefanie

May 4, 2013

IMG_1129 My daughter got a special doll for Christmas. She takes this doll, named Audry, most places she goes. She has asked to take Audry outside but I have always said no. I don’t want the doll to get hurt or lost.

This week we were lucky enough to received the Rider Along Dolly bike seat. Now she can take Audry outside for some exercise when she goes out to ride her bike. The first step to getting your bike seat ready is to decorate it with the provided stickers.

IMG_1115

Installing it on the bike is really easy. You just use the provided bolt and screw it onto the cross bar in the back of the bike. It is really easy, only takes a minute or two and your ready to ride with your favorite doll!

IMG_1130 The bike seat fits dolls and stuffed animals up to 3 lbs. I’m sure Audry isn’t the only one of my daughters toys that will get a ride on the back of her bike. This is definitely her new favorite toy. She LOVES this so much!

IMG_1132 She told me to put up this picture and say “See ya later folks,” So see ya later folks! :)
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Infix PDF Editor Review

By Jason

May 4, 2013

infix pdf editor

The Infix PDF Editor is just that, it allows you to edit PDF documents. This is what ICENI Technology, who makes the software, says about their product:

Infix PDF editor lets you open, edit and save PDF files. It’s easy and quick – you can change text, fonts, images and more. And, unlike other PDF editors, it works like normal word processing software, so it’s really easy to use.

They offer Basic (Free), Standard and Professional versions, I have highlighted some of the feature of the Basic and Pro versions below. One thing that I really like about their website is that they provide video tutorials on how to use the software and they are really helpful.

The biggest appeal that came when I first heard about this software was that I would be able to edit the PDF media kit that I got from the person I hired to make my media kit. I have read a lot horror stories where a blogger hired a designer to create a media kit for them only to receive a PDF version of it. If the media kit needed to be changed or added to the designer would happily do it for an additional fee. But with this software all the changes and stat updates can be done by you.

Features

Here is a list of the best features in the Basic and Pro versions

Basic (Free)

add text example

Fill-in PDF forms – allows you to fill-in forms on your computer and then immediately submit them; instead of printing out the form, filling it out by hand, scanning it back into the computer and then submitting it.

Edit text of PDF document – great for changing site stats or other information on PDF documents like media kits.

Manipulate layers – show/hide/rename to make editing easier — when working with basic text documents there is not a real need for layers but like with most image and photo editing software, layers allow you organize parts of the document like background colors, pictures, text sections….

Immune from PDF viruses (including malicious Javascript)

Pro

Convert PDF to ePub, RTF, HTML – allows you to convert PDFs to ePUB or ebook format, RTF Rich Text Format and HTML to easily add it to your website.

Convert anything to PDF using the Infix PDF Printer - I do this a lot, like when I need to print confirmation pages or payment receipts; it’s a great way to go green and not waste paper, but I just do it because I don’t want to make the hike all the way down to the basement to get the paper out of the printer and then find the right place to put it in the filing cabinet.

Join multiple PDFs into a single document – I find myself needing to do this all the time especially when I have to scan a bunch of things in one at a time but I need them all to be combined into one document. With the program I used before, I would have to “print” to PDF each document, put them on hold in the print queue, combine them into one document and then print it to a PDF. With the Infix software you just find all the documents you want to combine and then click the button to Join them. The website has a good tutorial video that shows you how to do it.

Lines with arrowheads for labeling diagrams – if I had this program at work I would use this feature all the time, it gives you the ability to  point out things in the documents without it blending into the document itself.

Find & replace text - why pay a designer to fix your misspelled name that the designer misspelled in the first place when you can just to it yourself in 2 seconds.

On the ICENI website there are 22 highlighted features listed for the Pro version, out of the 22 features Basic version only has 4 of them but out of the four the forming filling and the text editing are the most important ones.

If you need to do a lot with PDFs I would definitely recommend getting the Pro version, but if basic PDF editing is all you need the Basic version will work just fine.

AT Surgical Postpartum Compression Belt Review

By Stefanie

May 3, 2013

Disclaimer: I received this product free for review purposes. All opinions and experiences are my own. Yours may differ.

IMG_1124 I have noticed  after baby number three that it has been slow going getting back to my pre-pregnancy weight and shape. I was excited when I saw that AT Surgical was offering a postpartum compression belt and I jumped on the chance to review it.

Some of the benefits of this compression belt according to AT Surgical are:

  • Helps reduce scarring from stretch marks
  • Assists in maintaining proper posture
  • Positive support without restriction
  • Comfortable enough for everyday wear and barely noticeable under clothing

This compression belt is a three panel adjustable waist with strong compression fabric that tightens the belly. On the side is a Velcro adjustment so you can make it fit as tight or loose as you want. It is nice that it adjusts as your tummy gets flatter.

I have found that I really enjoy wearing the compression belt. It really is comfortable. Before I got it I was realizing that my posture is lacking so I like to wear the belt for the tummy benefits as well as the posture benefits. It is hard to slouch while wearing the belt!

AT Surgical has been supplying medical aids, athletic accessories and soft orthopedic supports for over 30 years. Along with the belt they sent a catalog of all their products and they have a lot! If you are needing any kind of support, I’m sure they have the product for you!

Fresh Produce Clothing

By Stefanie

May 2, 2013

Disclaimer: I received the following product free for review purposes. All opinions expressed are my own. Your experience may differ.

IMG_1104

My daughter was lucky enough to receive a dress from Fresh Produce clothing to review. Since she loves to wear dresses I picked her out a cute little sun dress.

After following the Fresh Produce size guide, the only color I could choose for the size I needed was white. I would have preferred a different color, but since I loved this dress I went ahead with white. I just looked at this dress on their website and it comes in even more color options than when I picked mine out. It is also on sale now for $30.99.  I was concerned about the size  the guide said I should get, but after consulting with Fresh Produce I went ahead and got the size they suggested. Now that we have received the dress and she has tried it on, I feel it is a little small and wish I had one size bigger.

IMG_1105

This dress is a perfect sun dress for summer. The fabric is light and bouncy and extra twirly, which is appropriate since it is named “Twirly dress in Baja.” The dress is made from 100% cotton and is machine washable. I love the double ruffle at the bottom of the dress. It makes it extra girly!

IMG_1106 The back of the dress has some cute straps and I like that they are nice and thick. We don’t wear sleeveless clothes in our home, so my daughter is rockin’ a cute sweater. It is fun to wear it with a sweater because we can change the look by changing the sweater. She could also wear it with a shirt underneath and change the look as well.

My daughter is totally in love with her new dress and can’t wait to wear it to school. Thank you so much Fresh Produce for this darling dress. Besides children’s clothes, Fresh Produce also carries women’s clothes, plus sizes and accessories.
